There are many reasons why we chose this format for our wedding! Firstly, we wanted to keep the ceremony intimate and private, just between the two of us. Second, we wanted to honor our loved ones who are no longer with us at our celebration, without feeling the pain of their absence on the day we first say our vows. Third, we wanted to give enough time for the public health crisis to be addressed. We look forward to celebrating with you at our ring warming and reception!
A ring warming is a chance to see our wedding rings up close and to send your good vibes and well wishes through them. The rings will be in their respective boxes near the ceremony entrance, with a bottle of hand sanitizer. Once everyone has had a chance to warm the rings, we will exchange them in a small ceremony before we get down to celebrating!
Not to worry! The ring warming ceremony and the wedding reception are at the same location - the Domokos Family Cabin in Necedah, Wisconsin. Though we hope to hold our ceremony outside among the pines, play lawn games, gather around the fire, we have rented a lovely tent where we'll eat dinner, regardless of any inclement weather.
It is honestly really difficult to say. It can be anywhere from 30-60°! It does occasionally snow in Wisconsin at the end of October. We will have an enclosed tent and plenty of cozy fires and patio heaters, but please be sure to pack a number of different options for layering and staying warm as needed.
Please take a look at the Plan Your Trip and Things to Do tabs. Plan Your Trip will give you more information about lodging, directions, and other travel recommendations, such as nearby airports. Things to Do will help you find food and activities in the immediate vicinity.
During cocktail hour, we will have snack trays available and the open bar will have a fixed menu of beer, wine, and our signature drink. Dinner is a pig roast that will be served buffet-style with a dessert table to graze at afterwards. The bar will close during dinner, but will reopen with a full menu until last call at 10:30pm. Please drink responsibly and take care to have a designated driver if you plan to partake.
Primarily, we want you to be warm and cozy, since the ceremony will be outdoors and the reception will be in an enclosed tent. While we would like to see everyone in something a little nicer than jeans, anything from dressy casual to semi-formal would be perfect, so long as you're able to layer and be comfortable! We suggest avoiding high heels and bringing a jacket for when the sun goes down.
We are using Zola's wedding registry, which allows us to list gifts that we want and need from a whole variety of different stores! You can find it under the Registry tab above. If you would rather not give a physical gift, we would be absolutely thrilled to receive a card or a contribution to our honeymoon fund.
In order to make sure there is enough food and space for everyone, we are keeping the guest list fairly small. If you've been given the option for a plus one, there should be a place for you to indicate who will be joining you when you RSVP.
Yes! We hope to have plenty of fun, kid-appropriate activities at our ccelebration. Jess is all set to teach them how to play flashlight tag!
We strongly encourage you to take photos during our reception! However, please refrain from taking photos during the ceremony. This is so that you can be fully present with us during the ceremony and so that we do not inhibit the photographers from catching professional quality images. We ask that you please tag us and use our cheesy wedding hashtag if you share any images on social media. It's #michielikethemouse!
Unfortunately, because much of the event will be taking place outside, accessibility may be somewhat difficult, though most of the property is level gravel and grass. Please let us know if we can help you with accommodations in advance.
It's our hope that each of our guests will be vaccinated by the time we get together! Regardless, we encourage you to do what you need to do to mitigate your risk. If you want to wear a mask, we totally support you! If you have elected not to get vaccinated, we ask that you wear a mask to protect yourself and our other guests. Our table layouts will not be socially distanced, but the majority of the event space is outside and there will be plenty of room to spread out if needed. We will be providing hand sanitizer on each dining table and elsewhere throughout the space.
