FAQs

Question

Is there a schedule of the weekend events?

Answer

Yes! Check out the Schedule page for all the details!

Question

Where is the ceremony? And where is the reception?

Answer

Our ceremony and reception will both take place at The Barn at Smuggler's Notch in Jeffersonville, VT. The venue is about a 45-minute drive from Stowe and we'll run shuttles between the venue and a couple of locations in Stowe.

Question

What time should I be at the venue?

Answer

Great question! If you're taking a shuttle, please plan to be at the shuttle site by 2:45pm so that the shuttle can leave promptly at 3pm. If driving yourself, please plan to arrive at the Barn by 3:45pm to get settled before the ceremony begins at 4pm.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes, there is a parking lot at the venue, but we'll also be offering shuttles to and from Stowe so you don't need to drive unless you want to. If you drive to the venue and later decide you'd like to take a shuttle back to Stowe, that's fine. The venue allows overnight parking and you can pick up your car the next morning -- just keep in mind you'll need to find a ride (or book a Lyft or Uber) to get you back to the venue to get your car.

Question

How will I get to the wedding venue?

Answer

We’ll be running shuttle buses between the venue and two locations in Stowe: Outbound Stowe and The Green Mountain Inn. There will be one departure from Stowe before the wedding, and return shuttles from the venue back to Stowe at least once per hour during the reception, likely starting around 8pm. Please note that the shuttles are air-conditioned school buses, so there are no bathrooms during the roughly 45-minute ride. (We had hoped to use coach buses, but they are too long to navigate the mountain pass.) You’re also welcome to drive yourself or carpool if you prefer. The drive back to Stowe would involve a dark, winding mountain road, but it’s well marked and generally traveled slowly.

Question

What should I wear to the wedding?

Answer

Hmm... Let's draw the line at pajamas. So no pajamas, okay? ;-) Our biggest priority is that you feel comfortable and enjoy yourself. The general vibe is “summer cocktail” — think sundresses, slacks, button-downs, or similar — but please don’t stress about it. If dressing more casually will help you relax and have fun, that’s absolutely fine with us. And if you’re excited for an excuse to get extra fancy, we’d love that too. A couple practical notes: the parking lot is gravel and, weather permitting, the ceremony will be held outdoors on grass, so choose footwear accordingly. Mountain temperatures can also change quite a bit from day to night, so bringing a layer is a good idea. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

Question

Is there anything else I should bring to the wedding?

Answer

We recommend bringing a layer in case you want to hang out on the lawn in the evening and the temperature cools off. Sunglasses might also be useful in case it's super sunny during the ceremony. And feel free to bring anything else that would help make you comfortable (e.g., hat, pair of comfy shoes to change into, etc.).

Question

What will we be eating and drinking at the wedding?

Answer

FOOD: During the cocktail hour we'll have a variety of hors d'oeuvres and other bites to whet your appetite, and they will include vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. For dinner we're offering three main dish options for teenagers and adults. They are: - Grilled NY strip steak, cooked to about medium, from Snug Valley Farm (of East Hardwick, VT) served with béarnaise sauce. - Pan seared statler chicken from Misty Knoll Farm (of New Haven, VT) served with lemon mustard sauce. *Statler refers to a particular cut of chicken breast. Also, the mustard in this sauce is mild, just fyi. - House made spinach and goat cheese ravioli served with lemon cream sauce. ---- In addition, all adults and teenagers will be served a grilled peach salad to start, and the main dishes will be served with sides of grilled seasonal vegetables, garlic roasted fingerling potatoes, and brioche rolls with herbed butter (with gluten free rolls for those who are gluten intolerant). For kids 12 and under we're offering two main dish options, which are: - Pasta with house tomato sauce - Chicken tenders with ketchup ---- In addition, all kids 12 and under will be served fruit, carrots, and celery (along with ranch dipping sauce) in place of the salad course, and their main dishes will include fresh fruit, steamed peas, and a roll. DESSERT: We're going to leave this as a surprise but there will definitely be cake! DRINK: Following the wedding ceremony, we'll have an open bar for the cocktail hour and reception with a selection of beer, wine, liquor, and non-alcoholic beverages.

Question

I have dietary restrictions. Will there be anything I can eat?

Answer

Liz has a lot of dietary restrictions of her own and so is very sensitive to this plight. We'll do our best to accommodate as many dietary restrictions as possible. Please make sure to tell us your dietary restrictions when you RSVP so that we're aware of them as we plan.

Question

Is the venue handicap accessible?

Answer

Yes, the entire venue (apart from the bridal suite) is handicap accessible and the grounds and patio are flat.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

For a variety of reasons, we’re only able to accommodate the guests named on the invitation. We appreciate your understanding. If you’re attending solo, don’t worry — we’re lucky to have some truly wonderful people in our lives, and we’re confident you’ll have a great time. We’re also happy to help connect guests beforehand so you’ll see some familiar faces on the big day. Who knows — you might even leave with a new friend or two!

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

Of course! The children in your household are very welcome to attend and we'll do our best to make sure you ALL have a great time. Please indicate the names and ages of your kids when you RSVP so that we can plan accordingly. And if you'd rather be sans kids for the weekend, that's cool too. Totally up to you.

Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

You can RSVP on this website via the "RSVP" tab available at the top. You'll be able to RSVP for specific events and choose your meal selection for the reception. Please RSVP by May 25th.

Question

What should I pack for a weekend in Vermont?

Answer

The weather in Vermont is often beautiful but can be unpredictable. We'll be in the mountains where storms can appear abruptly, so we recommend packing a rain jacket or umbrella just in case. Also, at the end of July the days can be quite warm -- the highs can be in the 80s with humidity -- but it may still cool off to the 50s at night so bring layers just in case. If you want to do any hiking, swimming, or other outdoor activities, be sure to bring anything you'll need for those activities. And if you decide to fly into/out of Montréal, Canada please don't forget to pack your passport.

Question

My dog is coming to Vermont with me! Can I bring them to the wedding?

Answer

We LOVE dogs, and we're happy to hear that yours will be joining you in Vermont! We bet you will have a great time enjoying the fresh mountain air together. Vermont is a super dog friendly state and you'll find many restaurants and stores keep water bowls at the ready outside their front doors. Also, don't be surprised if many folks stop you on the street and want to meet your dog. :-) BUT for the comfort of all of our guests, please leave your pooch behind when you join us for the festivities. Check out our "Things To Do" page to get more info on dog-related activities. Your dog could visit Dog Mountain with you! And if you decide to travel without your beloved pooch but you need a dog fix, check out the website for Golden Dog Farm and maybe book some time with their pack. Just be sure to reserve a spot early as they fill up fast. (After all, who wouldn't want to run around with a pack of Golden Retrievers?)
