An Online Dating success story

We never thought we'd be the ones to say, we met online, but here we are! Our story started one night on Hinge as Cameron responded to Jen's post about enjoying going to bed at 8pm by saying, "Will you marry me?" Jen had just moved to Charleston a few months prior, was very unhappy in her new job and was just looking to make friends. Cameron was bored at home, having newly moved back to Charleston from California. A first date was scheduled for 10/20/21, which Jen canceled because she was sick (classic). We rescheduled for Friday 10/22/21 to meet at Salty Mikes, a dive bar right on the water. 30 minutes before the scheduled meetup, Cameron called Jen to alert her that he had gotten there early and there was a 60th high school reunion taking place at the bar. It was filled with old people and wheelchairs. We regrouped and rerouted to The Island Cabana Bar. Cameron earned some points before the date even started because he was already prompt and on time for the date! Jen failed to mention that she rarely drinks alcohol and would prefer a water, so Cameron went ahead and ordered a bucket of beers. He says he planned to get just 2, but there was a deal! Jen, trying to be “normal” ordered the signature frosé. They took a seat on the pier facing the bridge and spent the next hour chatting. Jen was feeling guilty because she wanted to get home to bed and cut the date short and Cameron reassured her, there were no expectations and that would be fine. They ended the date saying they would like to see each other again. In the meantime, Jen quit her job and was an unemployed hot mess. Cameron planned a date to an outdoor concert at the Windjammer (during a Patriots game, mind you!!) and a follow-up to a comedy show the next week. Cameron was the patience and calm that Jen needed during this time. Everything was going so well that Jen suggested they “just be friends” while she figured out her life. Christmas time rolled around and Cameron showed up with a 12 days of Christmas Boston themed gift. Each day contained a small present from a local Boston shop. Cameron reassured Jen that this was just a “friend” gift and he knew she needed a piece of home, but Jen knew better. It was the most thoughtful gift and spoke volumes to Cameron as a person. They headed off to Elf Trivia the following week and decided to make things more official in the new year. They continued dating and exploring the city together for the next few months and then they became roommates! Jen made Cameron promise that if she was moving in, they were going to be in it for the long haul. And here we are today. It's crazy to think that Cameron would ask, "Will you marry me?" in person and for real this time, not even two years later. Cameron proposed in Boston with the clock tower in the background, surrounded by friends and family. We are so excited to see what the future has in store and can’t wait to keep making memories in our new life together.
