The Story So Far

"If you’re looking to distract a couple, just ask them how they met." – Caroline O’Donoghue

Jennie and Henry met in 2021, on the dating app Hinge, and beat the algorithmic odds by actually liking one another and immediately hitting it off. On their first date they talked about books, bar trivia, summer camp, BBQ, and international travel. They dated for a few months, during which Henry's friend Nick once asked "so when's the wedding?" (see above). But neither quite knew how the other felt, and they ended things in 2022. Over the next two years, Jennie and Henry continued to grow as people, and also to think about the other as "the one that got away." Finally, inspired by her sister & brother-in-law, Jennie decided to take a chance and reached out via text. Henry, gobsmacked and midway thru a pizza, quickly agreed to get coffee when he got back to town. Meeting at the Craftsman, the cafe/bar where Henry would later propose, the two realized there was still chemistry and connection. Over the next few months of dating, often involving talking at bars until early morning, the pair fell in love. They agreed that this time, the watchwords were "open and honest" and to "fumble forward" (which is now inscribed on Jennie's engagement ring). Between meeting friends, family, and trivia team members (shout out to the Masters of Some), Jennie and Henry realized they wanted to build a life together. They started by adopting cats (Shenanigan and Calamity), doing community theater (the AfterWork theater production of Young Frankenstein), and moving in together. Then, on September 16th, 2025, Henry and Jennie got engaged, surrounded by friends and family, after a poor attempt at misdirection by Henry. This was followed up by a visit to Egypt, to see Henry's father, where the couple celebrated their engagement on the Nile.

The Next Chapter

"If weddings required a catchphrase, I think this could be it: At last." - Ada Calhoun

Jennie and Henry are big believers that a love story does not end at the wedding. But we also want to stop, take stock, and thank and celebrate all those who got us here, from parents and siblings and family, to friends and teammates and mentors. If you are seeing this page, then you are someone we have shared laughter, and perhaps also tears or triumphs with. We thank you for the role you have had in our lives, and will have in the years to come. We can't wait to see you at the library on September 19th, and check out what comes next!
