We're getting married!

You might be thinking to yourself why on earth would two Texans want to get married in the dead of winter in Vermont. In the Summer of 2021, we were itching to travel somewhere. The pandemic had put a damper on a lot of travel, but all that time at home had been a lot. With international travel off the table, we looked at domestic locations that would hopefully be slightly cooler than Texas (spoiler alert: Vermont had a heatwave) and somewhere neither of us had been before. We settled on Vermont and scheduled time in both Woodstock and Stowe. Our trip to Vermont was so special for us as a couple. It offered quality, quiet time together and allowed us to dream about what our life together could be like. Not only that, Vermont (and Woodstock in particular) was full of history and all kinds of charm. We quickly came to understand why Laurance and Mary Rockefeller spent so much time there and why they were so intent on ensuring Woodstock's long-term future by developing a world-class resort, supporting the community library, and investing in the area. Woodstock is also steps away (AKA a few miles in a car) from the historic place where President Calvin Coolidge took the oath of office in the middle of the night by candlelight. Vermont as a whole is special and beautiful and this area is the cherry on top. But why in the winter? Well, we couldn't wait to start our lives together and we thought to ourselves that if Vermont is magical in the summer, it has to be even more so covered in a blanket of snow. (Don't worry, the ceremony and celebration will be inside.) You also need to know that Jeni spent a lot of time watching "White Christmas" as a child.
