Things To Do

We're getting married a short walk from our apartment, and we're so excited to share the neighborhood - and borough - that we love with all our friends and family. Here are some other great things to do while you're staying in Brooklyn!
Prospect Park/the Boathouse (our venue)

Prospect Park/the Boathouse (our venue)

101 East Drive, Brooklyn, NY 11225
, (646) 393-9031

YOU ARE HERE! We wanted to place our venue as a reference point to our other recommendations. Also, Prospect Park has many other parts to explore, worth going back for a second visit if you have the time!

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

990 Washington Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11225

We've celebrated our anniversary here before! It's a gorgeous botanic garden, and one of the best sights to see in Brooklyn. And now it's right in our neighborhood!

Brooklyn Museum

Brooklyn Museum

200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11238
, (718) 638-5000

One of our favorite art museums in the city! It's beautiful on the inside and out. Also, fun fact, the Brooklyn Museum is our early voting poll site, so we've voted here before (hence the election day selfie.)

Greenlight Bookstore

Greenlight Bookstore

632 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11225

Our neighborhood bookstore is the best, highly recommend you check it out. The workers recently unionized with the union Maria works for, RWDSU.

Evil Twin Brewing NYC - DUMBO

Evil Twin Brewing NYC - DUMBO

43 Main Street, Dumbo, NY 11201

One of Jeff's favorite breweries in the city has a DUMBO location not too far from the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge! The only thing missing from the original location in Queens is Marlon, the brewery cat.

New York Transit Museum

New York Transit Museum

99 Schermerhorn Street, Downtown Brooklyn, NY 11201
, (718) 694-1600

One of the more under-appreciated of the Brooklyn museums, but a true treasure! It's only a five minute walk from the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. There are tons of old subway cars to explore, plus exhibits all about the immigrant workers who built the subway system millions of New Yorkers rely on every day. Shout out TWU Local 100, the transit workers' union in NYC!

Bonafini

Bonafini

663 Flatbush Avenue, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, NY 11225
, (347) 770-9746

Our favorite local Italian spot for dinner while you're in town! The food is so good.

BierWax

BierWax

556 Vanderbilt Avenue, Prospect Heights, NY 11238
, (347) 533-8449

One of Jeff's favorite spots to grab a beer with a friend, BierWax is New York City’s premier vinyl record craft beer bar.
