Enchanted RockEnchanted Rock

Enchanted Rock has captivated human imagination for over 12,000 years. The Indigenous Tonkawa people believed it was home to powerful spirits—its groaning sounds at dusk and dawn were once thought to be whispers from within, ancient beings shifting in their slumber.
Tales swirl of ghostly fires dancing atop the dome at night, of warriors who disappeared into its rock face never to return, and of maidens who wandered too far and were claimed by the stone. One legend speaks of a Spanish conquistador who fled to the summit to escape his enemies, only to vanish without a trace—his anguished cries still carried on the wind when the moon is full.
It’s said that wishes whispered into the wind at the summit may be heard by something older than time, and that couples who watch the sunset together from its peak are bound by magic and stone.
Whether you believe in legends or not, Enchanted Rock asks only this: to approach with wonder, to tread with care, and to leave a little bit changed.
