Airport Options

Oakland airport isn't as busy as San Francisco (SFO) and is easier to get in and out of, and it's closer to the where the wedding is, so we'd generally recommend flying through Oakland. But if you're taking BART, it's only about 15 minutes difference between OAK (30ish minutes) and SFO (45ish minutes), due to a required BART connector to get to/from Oakland airport. If you're driving, OAK is much better because you will face major traffic getting to/from SFO. Finally, do NOT fly through San Jose. It's much further from Oakland and no direct public transit options.

Travel Note

BART information

BART will be packed on weekday rush hour times, but is generally reliable and easy to use. Unlike some cities, the cost of your trip depends on how far you are going, so you will have to enter your ticket both when you enter and exit the BART system. The wedding venue is right off a BART station, so it would be easy to use BART for your whole trip here.

Hotel

Oakland Marriott City Center

We recommend this hotel if you want to be in downtown Oakland, walking distance to BART (a block), walking distance to the wedding venue (less than a mile), and staying in the same digs we are ;-). Do NOT book this hotel if you are renting a car, unless you want to pay $50/night for parking at the hotel. We have a 15-room block reserved for our guests at a discount rate (use link below to access). Must book by June 12. If the block fills up quickly, we will try to get more rooms at that rate.

Executive Inn & Suites

We recommend this hotel if you want to be close to the wedding, but do not want to stay in downtown Oakland and/or are planning to drive or rent a car. This hotel is not super convenient if you are not driving, but it is less than two mile drive from the venue and the hotel has free parking.
