This room is a standard double or king room, including wifi (note: wifi is often not included in downtown Toronto hotels). House Or Rental
Hotels in Toronto are not the most budget-friendly. You may have points or discounts of your own that you may wish to use. Feel free to do your own research to find a hotel or AirBNB that better suits your budget. If you know someone in town with a spare room or couch, go for it. If you would like to come to the wedding, and the hotel is out of your budget, please let us know and we may be able to help you find alternative accommodation.
Flight
Toronto's International Airport is Lester B. Pearson Airport (YYZ) and is located north-west of the city. There are many direct flights to Toronto, but make sure to do your research to find the best price.
Train
The UP Express train is the most economical and quickest way to get downtown. The ride from Terminal 1 at the airport to Union Station (downtown) is 25 minutes. You can buy tickets online, at the airport, or on the train. The Westin Harbour Castle is a 10-minute walk from Union Station, or you can take a taxi from the station. A return ticket (Airport-Union-Airport) for an adult is CAD $24. Currently, trains run every 30 minutes, though frequency may increase throughout the summer.
Travel Note
There are taxis and airport limos available from the airport if you would like a private ride directly to the hotel. The taxi will cost CAD $75-100 one-way due to airport fees. A return taxi will not cost as much. If we are free, we may have someone available to pick you up from the airport. Connect with us closer to the date for this option.
Rental Car
You may wish to rent a car if you plan to extend your trip and go to some nearby sites like Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Algonguin Park, Bruce Peninsula, Montreal, etc. There are several car rental agencies available at the airport. Please note: parking at the Westin Harbour Castle is CAD $50/day for valet parking. There is offsite parking for CAD $30/day. You do not need a car to get around the city. If you are considering renting a car, perhaps rent it only for the days you will need it.
Travel Note
IMPORTANT: There are three ferries that leave from the ferry terminal. You MUST take the WARD'S ISLAND FERRY. To get to the wedding take the 15-minute ferry ride from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal (the ferry docks) to Ward's Island. The ferry terminal is located on Queens Quay between Yonge St. and Bay St. To arrive to the ceremony on time, you must take the 2:30pm (or earlier) ferry to Ward's Island. Please see link for the Fall Schedule. Please arrive at least 15-minutes early to the ferry, as there can be line-ups. Once you get to Ward's Island, the Algonguin Island Association Clubhouse is a 15-minute walk. Feel free to arrive at the island early and walk around - it's very pretty. If you miss the 2:30pm ferry, you can also take a boat taxi which is located at the bottom of Yonge St. on Queens Quay, close to Westin Harbour Castle. The boat taxi drop is exactly where the ceremony is taking place, so please only use this as an absolute last resort to avoid any disruption. The ferry costs $8.50 to the island. There is no fee to return from the island. Please see attached for ferry schedule and more information.
Travel Note
The walk is approximately 15-minutes from the ferry terminal. When you get off the ferry, you will follow the paved walking path to the right. After 5-minutes, you will see a wooden bridge that will take you to Algonguin Island. When you get to the Island, walk straight down the residential street to the water. When you hit the water, make a left and follow that street until it bends. The venue is located at the bend in the road. NOTE: You can look up the venue on Google Maps and it will take you directly there.
Travel Note
Currently, there are no quarantine restrictions for fully-vaccinated international travelers. As of April 1, fully-vaccinated international travellers do not require a pre-entry covid test, however you will still be required to fill out the ArriveCan form on the ArriveCan app within 72 hours of flying. Ontario no longer has a mask-mandate or social distance policy indoors and venue capacity has increased to 100%. We will not fill the venue to 100% capacity, however you will be dining and dancing beside other people. You can be masked or unmasked according to your personal comfort level. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Solan or Jaymie. As always, regulations may change in the upcoming months, so stay vigilant. Please check the Government of Canada website for the latest updates.
