Bride
Kayla is the bride of the bunch! She is from Tallahassee, Florida, where many of her friends and family still live. She's lived in New York and France and traveled the world for her job as a travel editor, but she's most at home snuggling on the couch with Sadie in Boston. Her favorite things are traveling, writing, eating ice cream, lounging at the beach, and hanging out with Jasper — HER LOBSTER.
Groom
Jasper, the groom, is originally from New York City. He moved to Miami, FL for college, where he stayed for graduate school in clinical psychology. His tie to Florida is just one of the things he has in common with Kayla. Jasper also loves traveling, especially to South Africa for work. He can also be found at his axe-throwing league (fun fact: he's ranked in the top 15% in the world), making bad dad jokes, eating sushi, or fishing. Kayla would totally be his lobster too, but he's allergic to shellfish.
Matron of Honor
Kayla's sister and first-ever friend, sharer of peanut butter and jellies, protector, and the one who's ALWAYS had her back, Stephanie is the matron of honor. As Oprah so eloquently put it, "She is the mother you never had, she is the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don't know a better person." :)
Best Man
Daniel and Jasper met during their freshmen year at the University of Miami. They lived on the same floor (go Hecht MT8 aka the Brochos!) and became fast friends. Their shared a love of sports, video games, and prank wars. Since then, they have been on many great adventures, and can even still remember some of them. When Jasper needed a place to stay for a week when moving, Daniel quickly offered up his couch and helped him move. In April of 2021, Jasper was Daniel's best man in his wedding. Jasper will tell you it was one of his favorite moments with a friend, getting to stand by their side as they got married, and Jasper couldn't be happier that Daniel will be by his.
Officiant
A ride or die for both the bride and groom, Carrah is our officiant, and there is no one we would rather have marry us. She has been our rock in Boston, and a good friend of the bride since middle school. Kayla can always count on her for a laugh, a Cher impersonation, and a thought-provoking discussion.
Groomsman
Eric and Jasper met in elementary school and spent all of high school playing sports and video games together... and maybe some homework too. If you were looking for Jasper, it would be a safe bet that he was at Eric's house. Growing up together, Eric and Jasper had many experiences: first days of school, Prom, playing tackle football with no pads, staying up all night on sleepovers, and eating their weight in stouffer's mac and cheese. Jasper once made what was quite possibly the worst cake of all time for Eric's birthday. And when Jasper had one of his several surgeries, Eric came over after school just to hang out—a memory Jasper will never forget.
Bridesmaid
One of Kayla's oldest friends, Chandler befriended 10-year-old Kayla when she moved to Tallahassee because they had the same birthday (Aug 5!) and they've been friends ever since. Despite their questionable taste in fashion circa 2003 Halloween, Chandler is Kayla's personal stylist. Ask her about her adorable puppy, Mr. Dashwood.
Groomsman
Ajayne, or Aje as his friends know him, was Jasper's first friend. They met in pre-K at the ripe old age of four and went to school together until age 18. Jasper used to chase Aje around the cafeteria with his green eggs and ham sandwich, which Aje (not incorrectly) thought was a really weird thing to eat. On 9/11, when Aje's mom, a police officer, was called in, Aje went home with Jasper, and together they endured a historic day. Aje and Jasper have spent lots of time on the basketball court, honing their skills as shooters (but not so much as defenders), and were co-captains of the varsity team their senior year.
Bridesmaid
Katie and Kayla met when they were bright-eyed, bushy tailed college students embarking on their first magazine jobs in New York City. They remained close throughout their time in the city and beyond, and now they are living their dream as editors for big-name brands — as co-workers! :)
Groomsman
Elliott (soon to be Dr. Weinstein) and Jasper met in graduate school and are not only colleagues but also great friends. Both New York Jews, they shared many commonalities in their childhood and now in their work. Elliott and Jasper have co-authored scientific publications, spent many hours doing statistical analyses, and traveled to conferences together. Throughout the pandemic, when they worked remotely, Jasper and Elliott were always in touch and kept each other on track. It's hard to believe they didn't meet until graduate school, because their paths could have crossed much earlier and their friendship seems to have been made over many years.
Bridesmaid
Bridesmaid and fellow Seminole Brittney was introduced to Kayla via their friend Amanda (also a bridesmaid!) when they lived in New York. Kayla knew they'd be friends after a night out when Brittney asked if Kayla wanted to ditch the party and grab a slice of pizza. It was the start of a beautiful friendship! (Kayla then slept on Brittney and Amanda's couch so many times she should've started paying rent).
Groomsman
Kyle is Jasper's cousin from North Carolina. They've spent every Thanksgiving together for years. Kyle taught Jasper how to knee board and inner tube—activities that are a bit hard to get into in NYC. Jasper has watched Kyle grow up from a little guy Jasper read to, into a great man. Jasper and Kyle always find ways to make things fun, and there's no doubt this wedding will be the same.
Bridesmaid
Kayla met Amanda when they were young whippersnappers at Florida State University, working together at the school newspaper. The trustiest of friends, she was there for Kayla when she moved to New York (and even found her first place to live!). They took on the city together, experiencing new jobs, lots of fun nights at Cowgirl, and several weddings too :)
Groomsman
Chris and Jasper met in college when Jasper joined the same fraternity as Chris. Chris taught Jasper everything he knows about how to throw a party, as Jasper succeeded Chris as Vice President. Jasper and Chris spent many early mornings setting up for UM football games (go Canes), and their tailgates were often the highlight of those seasons. Since college, Jasper and Chris have remained close friends. They've traveled from the Florida Keys to Colorado, enjoy playing Trivia Trolls, and sending each other zillowgonewild Instagram posts (if you don't follow that page, they highly recommend it). Chris and Jasper also share a special bond as University of Miami Hurricanes who (as of 9/9/23) will both be married to FSU Seminoles.
Bridesmaid
Kayla and Kristin first met 10 YEARS AGO when they were itty bitty magazine interns in New York City. They became fast friends and over their years together in NYC, where they had many brunches, deep talks, and movie nights together with the four K's (Katie, Kristin, Kate, and Kayla!) Fun fact: they once saw the Queen of Norway together.
