Hotel Stay We recommend staying on the South Side of Maui (Kihei, Wailea, Makena). An affordable option is using AirBNB to search “Sugar Beach” in Kihei. Maui Coast hotel is also another great option. If you are looking for more of a resort vibe there is the Andaz and Fairmount, and also the higher end resorts such as the Grand Wailea & The Four Seasons. Food Something we have learned with Hawai'i is to go to the store and purchase breakfast and possibly lunch meals, and then only eating out for dinner. Island prices are a lot higher than your home. Maui does have a Costco and your membership will work there too. Trust us, you'll thank us. 🚗 What Type of Car to Pick Compact / Mid-size sedan – Great for couples or small groups; easy parking in Kihei/Wailea. SUV – Ideal for extra luggage/gear, family trips, road trips like the Road to Hana. Convertible / Jeep – Fun for scenic drives and beach cruising. Minivan – Best for larger groups or family with lots of gear.

This airport has rental cars available and is roughly 20 - 30 min away from Kihei, the town that we are getting married at. Lahaina used to be a good choice to stay at; however, they are recovering from a fire from a couple years ago.

We prefer choosing an air bnb that has a kitchen to help save money. If you cook breakfast and lunch at your air bnb and only eat out for dinner, it'll save you a lot of money. On average food costs $35 per person, even for a street taco!

Land at OGG → Follow signs to Rental Cars at baggage claim. Take the free airport tram across the street to the rental center. Pick up your reserved car right there — easy access to HI-380 or HI-311 down to Kihei.
