On a warm Memorial Day Weekend in Louisville, Kentucky, Jarel and I met at the University of Louisville. Jarel was my orientation leader for my college introduction weekend before I started attending classes in August of 2013. We quickly bonded over our love for Chicago as Cubs fans & both having family that lived there. He also met my Mom as he gave all the parents a tour of the campus and answered all their eager questions, as he had just completed his Freshman year at UofL. Jarel and I exchanged numbers and said that we would stay in touch once classes started a few months later. Little did I know that I would later see him at my first big southern college tailgate. I had just joined a sorority and he was already established in his fraternity. Soon college prefs and formals would be taking place and I needed a date to my first sorority dance. Jarel came to mind and we attended our first dance together, which was Great Gatsby themed in our glittery gold and black ensembles. As my freshman year and his sophomore year went on, we stayed close and attended more events together. We started dating in August of 2014 and now almost 10 years later are getting married at the very spot we first met, the University of Louisville college campus!
