No! The wedding venue is a large villa with many buildings that will sleep all wedding guests for the four nights May 28th - June 1st. No need to book accommodations for those nights, only before or after if you are planning to extend your trip. The cost for you to stay at Casa Cornacchi is already covered as our thank you for joining us - we apologize but this point is non-negotiable.
We recommend for at least one person in your travel party to purchase an international phone data plan so that you can easily text, call, and navigate your way around. Check with your cell phone carrier for details. AT&T International Day Pass for $10/day Verizon Travel Pass for $10/day
*UPDATE* for right now, NO! It doesn't look like Italy has implemented this yet. We are thinking it will still not be required come May, so don't worry about this for now! If something changes we will update the info here. Starting in 2025, US citizens will need to apply for a travel visa online prior to traveling to Italy! Be sure you have a current passport valid for at least 3 months past your travel dates. Apply for your ETIAS visa using the link on our Travel Guide page.
The weather in Tuscany is very similar to Northern California - average temperature in May is 63F and in June is 70F. We are hoping for this pleasant warm sunny weather but not sweltering hot! There is definitely a good chance of rain showers in May but we hope to time the wedding events around any expected rain showers.
One of the reasons we chose Casa Cornacchi as our venue is because of their focus on authentic, farm fresh Italian food! They make their own wine from their vineyards, their own olive oil from their olive trees, even their own meats and cheeses. YUM! For all guests they will provide a breakfast spread each day, simple lunch items are available a la carte to order, and then dinner according to that night's event (see schedule). They can accommodate GF, vegetarian, or vegan dietary restrictions. Long story short... don't worry about food, we will keep you well fed. Have Jared and Sarah ever failed at that?
Nope! With such a small wedding, everyone we have invited is very special to us and will be included in all scheduled events.
YES! RSVP's are due by the end of January. This is a firm RSVP deadline, as we are providing accommodations for guests we need to know the final count earlier than usual. Please do your best to RSVP as soon as possible.
Sadly, no. This is the one and only negative we have found of a destination wedding. They will be pampered at home and excited to see us when we return. P.S. if you secretly have a private jet and would like to volunteer to fly the pups to Italy let us know :)
Please refer to the dress code suggestions of each event listed on the schedule. For the most part, wear something that makes you feel your best and is comfortable - especially comfy shoes as the terrain is very rocky and full of cobblestone (stiletto type heels are strongly discouraged). In addition to the outfits you pack for the events and wedding, be sure to pack good athletic/walking shoes, comfy clothes for just hanging out, and a bathing suit. Each room has standard hotel amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, hair dryer, linens and towels.
I worked night shift therefore I get to call myself an expert in this arena. Select a red-eye flight that lands in Europe mid-day (don't pick the one that lands at 7am local time... that is setting you up for failure expecting yourself to last all day). Unless you are a total anomaly you will not get great sleep on the flight, but try your best to get as much sleep as possible. Melatonin or Benadryl (or both!) and a glass of wine do wonders. Once you land in Europe, caffeinate and keep yourself busy! Do NOT take a nap. This will ruin everything. Push through as best you can until after dinner and go to bed early. Even if you feel exhausted, take 3-5mg of melatonin when you go to sleep that first night to help prevent waking up in the middle of the night and to help reset your biological clock.
Yes, we think that this is worth it! Most U.S. health insurance will do you no good abroad - you can always double check with your insurance company before making a decision. We have purchased affordable medical coverage through Visitor's Coverage.
Requesting that our loved ones travel halfway across the globe for our wedding is no small ask. The only gift we wish to receive is for you to join us in Italy! For this reason, we have chosen to not have a gift registry. We truly do not want any physical gifts. Seriously. We would love to receive cards from our guests that we can cherish forever.
