We met during the play 'The Music Man' with High Point Community Theatre. We didn't say a word to each other over a three month period of being in the same room almost every day. J was the cool guy, Rebekah was the conservative shy girl. A couple of years down the road we both found ourselves in a production of 'Once Upon A Mattress,' and a friendship was born out of a backstage stairwell- two weirdos had found a kindred spirit of a kind. Over eight years, our friendship continued to grow through productions, school, hardships, heartbreak, deaths, and life. Then at the very end of 2012, we both decided to stop fighting the inevitable and started dating, even though it was long-distance and five states apart for the first year. Funnily enough, our hometown group of theatre friends - the 'Gang' as we were called - didn't believe us at first. Don't worry, we were a bit weirded out ourselves. Throughout the last seven years, our relationship grew. We moved up and down the east coast chasing our dreams both together and occasionally separated for gigs. Along the way, we were fortunate enough to meet many great people. We finally made our way back to North Carolina to open our own business and moved around three different cities over four years. Six years of dating later on our anniversary, after a lackluster meal and a surprising amount of saké, J proposed down by the Cape Fear River and we were engaged. We started at the bottom of the ladder of friendship, life, and love, and we made it to the top. We hope you'll join us as we step onto the first rung of the last ladder we'll climb together.
