Things To Do

The Lutjens Family lived on the Presidio (1968-1972) while it was still an Army military base. As it evolved into a National Park it still retained some of my favorite places to visit and appreciate. Hope you have the time to enjoy some of these special places. See Presidio.gov for the most current Covid-19 guidelines and openings.

Palace of Fine Arts

3301 Lyon Street, San Francisco, CA 94123

Originally built in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific Exposition it is now a beautiful place to walk around and admire the architecture, and feed the ducks in the peaceful reflecting ponds. Another favorite bike-ride of Elaine's.

Crissy Field Center

1199 East Beach, San Francisco, CA 94129
, (415) 561-7752

Elaine and her sister Chris used to ride their bikes to this beautiful location.

Fort Point National Historic Site

San Francisco, CA 94129
, (415) 504-2334

Located right underneath the Golden Gate Bridge this is an amazing historical site. You can hear the cars on the bridge above you and the ocean waves crashing near you!

Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point

San Francisco, CA 94129

Ride a bike or walk across the Bridge! If you don't like heights then just enjoy the beautiful views and visit the museum describing how this magnificent structure was built.

The Presidio Cafe on the Presdio Golf Course

300 Finley Road, San Francisco, CA 94129
, (415) 561-4600

Besides Sessions or the Social Club this is another good food choice for guests staying on the Presidio. Other good food options are located just outside the Arguello Gate on Clement Street.
