Maid of Honor
Meet Anna, Haley’s best friend from Grad School at NAU and fellow medical SLP. Haley and Anna first bonded in the Child Language Lab, where they worked under Dr. Sosa analyzing language samples of preschoolers (and laughing over the many hilarious pronunciations of “frog”), and their friendship has only continued to grow ever since. With Anna and Haley, the conversation never stops flowing. They could talk endlessly for hours on end over sushi (and good food in general), about life as an SLP, dating/family/friendships, and all things pink and girly. Anna knows Haley better than anyone (including herself), and has been there since the beginning of Jakob and Haley’s relationship. Haley is so honored to have Anna as her MOH on her special day!
Derrick Tollefson
Best Man
Derrick and Jakob became friends through Derrick’s brother, Kenneth. Their friendship started out online, but became more real when Jakob went out to Colorado to visit a few times and even helped Derrick move back to California. Both foodies, Derrick maps out the best new places to eat while Jakob is always down to try the newest craze. One of them may say something crazy while playing games with friends online, but somehow they’re always on the same wavelength. No one makes Jakob cackle and wheeze harder than Derrick with the perfect joke. Derrick knows Jakob better than anyone and always makes Jakob feel at ease. Jakob can’t wait to have Derrick stand by his side as his Best Man and have a blast with him as he throws the best pizza party, I mean, wedding, ever.
Lauren Kawano
Maid of Honor
Lauren is Haley’s best friend from college at Pepperdine, fellow foodie, and globe-trotter. Haley and Lauren lived together while studying abroad in Florence, Italy. But they didn’t truly become close until they decided to live together again once back in Malibu. They discovered they had all of the same interests, including binge-watching Friends and The Office on the couch, finding all the best food spots in LA, and taking surf class together. They quickly became inseparable. Through graduations, moves, and living an ocean apart, their friendship has never wavered. Haley and Lauren had finally moved in together again when Haley and Jakob first met. Lauren was one of the first people to vet Jakob at the start of their relationship, and she approved! Now Haley, Lauren, and Jakob all enjoy “couchie time” and sushi dins together. Haley can’t wait to have Lauren standing beside her as her MOH!
Josh Bates
Best Man
Josh is Jakob’s oldest friend since before 4th grade. They grew up together, had all of their classes together in school, spent all their free time together, and had so much in common even as kids. Josh is the only friend from elementary school that Jakob has kept in contact with, and one of the few people from high school that he still has regular contact with. Jakob loves that Josh is an excellent listener and the two of them can talk about anything for hours. They love to bond over shared nostalgia of video games from when they were kids, work great together to solve puzzles, and are always looking for a new challenge. It only makes sense to have one of Jakob’s best friends stand by his side as his Best Man on his wedding day. And Josh will cut the pizza!
Janelle Smith
Bridesmaid
Haley's oldest friend, Janelle and Haley have known each other since the 4th grade! They are never afraid to be silly and have a great time together, from performing "Dance Idol" as kids, to Color Guard in high school, to wine nights on the patio as adults. They have grown and changed in so many ways over the years, but have always been there for each other through the highs and lows. Haley loves that Janelle is so genuine and makes others feel comfortable and close with her. She is open, vulnerable, and fearless. Jakob and Haley always love spending quality time with Janelle and her fiancé Jeremy during their trips down to San Diego! This monumental moment in Haley's life would not be complete without Janelle by her side.
Allen Andrion
Groomsman
Jakob met Allen through the Quality Friends: a group of engineers working at Disneyland under the regime of manager Nat. Allen was the first to infiltrate the friend group as a spouse (which paved the way for Haley to join before she was even engaged, which Allen is still bitter about). Allen is always the life of the party, but he is also intelligent, helpful with career advice, and always includes Jakob and Haley in any fun group activities. Together Allen, Regina, Jakob, and Haley were able to place third in Bar Trivia night (woo!). They always love to try new restaurants together in their area, especially since they live so close together! Jakob knows he can count on Allen to keep the party going on his wedding night!
Tori Brouwer
Bridesmaid
Tori is Jakob’s cousin and fellow Brouwer. Jakob and Tori love to bond over stories about their dads - who are seemingly opposite brothers, but more alike than most people think! Jakob has fond memories of going to the beach with Tori and their grandparents, and holidays spent around the dinner table together with family. In recent years they have gotten even closer, especially since Haley came into the picture. Haley thinks of Tori as her friend and family already. She has loved learning more about Tori’s love for baking and Taylor Swift, and all the things that make Tori so thoughtful, caring, and sweet. Haley and Tori are experts at reciting quotes from “Friends” to each other, and Tori makes the most delicious Cadbury egg cookies! Haley is so honored to have Tori stand beside her as she becomes a Brouwer.
Gabriel Portillo
Groomsman
Gabriel and Jakob met as interns on the same team at Disney. While enduring the stress of trying to find full-time jobs, they trauma-bonded, formed a Bromance, and had a ton of fun together. Jakob can always count on Gabriel for a good laugh, but he is also one of the few people that Jakob can have deep and meaningful conversations about life with. They can spend entire days together hanging out, and Jakob is always trying to impress Gabriel by engaging in his favorite adventurous activities (like rock climbing and slack-lining). Despite this wedding finally breaking up the Bromance, and despite Gabriel being the one person who might object during the ceremony, Jakob is still honored to have Gabriel stand by his side as one of his groomsmen.
Brittany Hancock

Brittany and Haley met when Brittany’s mom, Sylvia, married Haley's uncle, Ted. Now Brittany has become not only Haley’s cousin, but her dear friend! Brittany immediately made Haley and Jakob feel like they were family when they first met, and they look forward to every time they get to come down to San Diego to see her. Their trips to Morning Glory for brunch, quality time with all of the pups, game nights bonding on the couch, and family get-togethers over the years have brought them even closer. Brittany's genuine, kind, and loving spirit is exactly what Haley needs on her wedding day!
Roy Lee

Meet Roy, another member of the Quality Friends, who took Jakob under his wings and went out of his way to help him learn as an intern at Disneyland. Roy is someone Jakob admires both personally and professionally. Anyone who has met Roy has been wowed by him in one way or another. Coffee connoisseur, mixology mastermind, creative chef, interior designer, renovator of old cars - you name it, Roy likely knows a thing-or-two about it. But most of all, Roy is a talented engineer and a thoughtful friend, which Jakob recognized quickly after meeting him. Roy is exactly the trustworthy and dependable groomsman that Jakob knows he can count on for his wedding day!
Brooke Hancock

Brooke is Haley’s cousin, Brittany’s sister, and Wesley’s mom (the adorable pup in the picture!). Brooke and Haley are both Iggy-lovers, bookworms, Hufflepuffs, and Better Buzz latte aficionados. Haley admires Brooke for her resilience and vulnerability, her body positivity and feminist posts on social media, and her quirkiness and confidence in herself. Brooke is so great at making others laugh and feel comfortable with her, and Haley felt like she had been friends with Brooke for years from the moment they first met. Haley is so happy to have Brooke as family, and even happier to have her as one of her Bride Tribe!
Andrew Tran

Andrew and Jakob met through Gabriel and the Quality Friends. Jakob loves that Andrew has a knack for remembering details about people and bringing them back up the next time you see him, no matter how much time has passed. He asks very insightful questions and made Haley feel right at home the first time she met the Quality Friends, too. Jakob and Haley loved bonding with Andrew and his girlfriend Erica in the car driving up to Sequoia for a camping trip one summer, and they were still enjoying each other's company after countless hours of driving - true friendship! Andrew is the perfect person to stand beside Jakob as he embarks on this next great adventure!
