It was spring of 2014 and Jenae was the Spring Break Trip Coordinator for the Iowa State University chapter of Habitat for Humanity. The group was having a volunteer build event down in Laredo, TX and was looking for student members to participate. Rather than going to party on the beach, Jake's college roommate convinced him that road tripping with a group of fellow Iowa State students to go help build things down in Texas might be a pretty good time. Sparks started to fly on the trip between Jake and Jenae. However, it was not until over a year later, on June 28th of 2015, that they they'd start dating while Jenae visited Jake in Australia on his semester abroad. With the trip of a lifetime as their base, the rest is history. (This is Jake's version of events)
