We lived just a short walk from the Conservatory of Flowers for many years. While you’re there, be sure to stroll through the Dahlia Dell (it’s free!) and enjoy a walk through Golden Gate Park. Peak bloom season is August–September, but you can still catch some beautiful blooms in early October.
Lands End Trail is one of our favorite hikes in San Francisco, combining stunning coastal views with a bit of history. The trail includes some stairs and moderate elevation and is typically a 3–4 mile round trip or loop, making it a great option for a wide range of activity levels. It’s easily accessible from the Lands End Lookout.
San Francisco is home to one of only three remaining historic Japantowns in the United States. What makes it especially cool is how vibrant and immersive it feels. You’ll find everything from traditional tea shops to mochi vendors and unique boutiques tucked inside the Japan Center malls. The Peace Pagoda is a beautiful spot for photos. Food is a huge highlight here. We recommend: Marufuku Ramen Udon Mugizo Tenroku Sushi If you have time, check out the grocery stores, grab matcha desserts, or browse the shops for unique gifts. It’s a perfect place to wander, snack, and soak in something a little different from the rest of the city.
