We met on Bumble-where Tabbie used her classic opening lime joke (iykyk) and Jacob responded with the best counter joke Tabbie had ever heard. We've been making each other laugh every day since then and laughter (and bad jokes) are a cornerstone of our relationship. While Tabbie insisted to all of her friends that "we're taking it slow", we went on 3 dates within a week of meeting and haven't gone a day without talking to each other since that first message was sent.
Our first date was at a local bookstore where we browsed the stacks together and talked in the cafe until closing time. We both love reading and have spent hours browsing bookstores and the library and reading on the couch together.
As a couple we enjoy completing puzzles together, playing board games, comparing our daily results of the NYT games, eating pizza together on Pizza Fridays, and rating brunch spots in Wichita using our own totally made up rating system. We also enjoy road trips with a good social science audiobook and walking at the Keeper of the Plains.
Just an average Pizza Friday at the end of August and Jacob asked Tabbie to go on a walk around the keeper. She was suspicious but of course wasn't about to say no! Jacob led us to a spot with a bench where we'd talked about our future one of the first times months and months ago. Unfortunately the spot was occupied so we turned around and having no other places to propose, Jacob eventually stopped their walk and proposed right on the sidewalk. The ironic part came when the bench interrupter vacated the bench shortly after we'd abandoned the spot and we saw him on our walk back sitting at the beginning of the path.
