Flight
We recommend flying into Oaxaca International Airport (OAX), which is a 20-minute drive from the hotel venue. It is a small airport, and you should have no trouble making your way around to pick up luggage or call a taxi.
Shuttle
May 5, 2025 4:00 pm
Ride share apps do not operate in Oaxaca, but travelers have several options to reach the city center from Oaxaca International Airport. These can all be booked securely, directly at the booth inside the airport before exiting: Shared Shuttle (Colectivo): These are comfortable vans that drop passengers at various hotels. The fare to Zone 1 (historic center) is around MXN 120 per person (about $6 USD). Private Taxi: A private taxi offers direct service to your destination. Fares to Zone 1 are approximately MXN 390 (about $20 USD).
Travel Note
Unfortunately, there are no direct flight options to Oaxaca from the Pacific Northwest. If departing from Portland, we recommend the following flights: -> United (UA596): This is a daytime flight leaving just after 6 a.m. with one stopover in Houston. Best for those who want the most direct flight and can use the day to travel. -> Delta (DL2947): Similar in departure time and flight duration to the United flight, but this flight has two stopovers, one in LAX and one in MEX. Best for those who may want to maximize their Delta points and don't mind the tradeoff of adding an extra layover. -> American (AA1956): This is a redeye flight leaving just before midnight with a stopover in Dallas. Best for the adventurous and those who would prefer to maximize their time by traveling overnight.
Travel Note
For those who live in Seattle or don't mind the drive. SeaTac offers better flight options to Oaxaca, including a direct flight to Mexico City (which has many regional flights to Oaxaca able to be booked a la carte). We recommend flying Delta/Aeromexico or American.
