Travel Note
If you’re traveling from the U.S. to Hermosillo, it’s important to keep in mind the following: • Passport: U.S. citizens must have a valid passport for entry into Mexico. • FMM (Forma Migratoria Múltiple): Upon entry to Mexico, you’ll be required to complete an FMM, also known as the tourist card. This form can typically be obtained at the border crossing, online, or from your airline if flying into Mexico. Keep this document safe, as you'll need it when leaving Mexico. • Vehicle is Properly Registered: If you're driving into Mexico, make sure you have your vehicle registration and a valid driver’s license up to date. • Car Insurance: U.S. car insurance is not valid in Mexico, so it’s MANDATORY to purchase Mexican car insurance before crossing the border. Many U.S. insurers offer temporary Mexican car insurance, or you can buy it at the border. Be sure to check the coverage for accidents, theft, and roadside assistance. • Drive During Daylight: Please avoid driving at night. Aim to arrive before sunset for better visibility. • Currency: The local currency is the Mexican Peso (MXN), but U.S. dollars are widely accepted in most places. It's always a good idea to carry some pesos for smaller purchases. We recommend using a credit card where it is available to do so. (to avoid any issues with your credit or debit cards while in Mexico, notify your bank of your travel plans.) Also, if driving from the US to Hermosillo, have pesos for tolls. They DO NOT accept USD or card payments. • Safety: Hermosillo is generally a safe and welcoming city. As always, use common travel sense. Such as, avoid displaying valuables, and be mindful of your surroundings, especially in unfamiliar areas. We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate this special time together!
