Jake and Holly met on July 5, 2015 after their mutual friend, Heather Lenefsky, invited them to watch the World Cup Women's soccer final in Ocean Beach, San Diego. During the sharing of french fries and beer, Holly and Jake shared a bit about their interests (hiking, national parks, sleeping, french fries, coffee, beer, to name a few) all while Jake fervently shouted and cheered at the game. When the day was over, Jake asked Holly if she would like to go hiking to one of his favorite places some time. She said yes and they exchanged digits. Two days later, Jake took Holly on a GRUELING 11 mile hike where they had the chance to hang out and get to know each other better. They had so much fun together that Jake cancelled a Tinder date for that evening and Holly agreed that post-hike pizza sounded amazing. They have been happily adventuring, eating french fries, and drinking beer together ever since.
Jake and Holly visited Yosemite National Park (one of their favorite places in the world) and camped in Curry Village over Christmas vacation. On Christmas Eve day, they hiked to the top of Upper Yosemite Falls and enjoyed the amazing views. After the hike, Jake and Holly shared wings (for Jake), pizza, and beer for dinner. They were exhausted, but wanted to see the stars from the meadow in front of Half Dome. After grabbing his camera and her blanket, they trudged out into the cold to take pictures. Jake set up his tripod and Holly set up her chair and they watched the Yosemite Valley at night. Jake then asked Holly to look at some of the pictures that he took of the sky. As she looked through the pictures on the camera, there was a picture of his fingers holding a diamond ring. When she turned around in her chair, Jake was kneeling and asking her to spend the rest of her life loving him. And through tears of absolute happiness, she said yes! (while Jake is saying, don't drop the ring, it's really dark out here!)
