FAQs

Question

Why Italy?

Answer

Our first answer to this is usually... why not? But the truth is that we fell in love on a trip to Italy together in the fall 2021, and it represents our commitment to experiencing the fullness of life together.

Question

Where is the wedding?

Answer

The wedding festivities (Friday & Saturday) will take place at Borgo Sant'Ambrogio a gorgeous historic estate in the countryside, a ten-minute drive from the idyllic Renaissance town of Pienza. The estate is nestled in a natural reserve in Val D'Orcia. The property includes a fully functioning organic farm producing olive oil and a resort where the wedding will take place. The welcome party will take place at La Terrazza Del Chiostro, a courtyard restaurant located in a 15th-century monastery (and modern-day hotel) in the heart of Pienza, with breathtaking valley views from garden tables. More details on the location can be found on the travel page. We recommend flying into Florence or Rome and renting a car. Be advised that most car rentals in Italy are manual transmissions, so be sure to book ahead to grab an automatic if that's your preference.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

The wedding is 15 minutes outside of the town of Pienza, in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, with numerous hotel and agriturismo options. You can find our recommendations on the Travel page of this website. Pienza is considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in Tuscany, famous for its views of the picturesque Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rolling hills, vineyards, and cypress-lined roads. Pienza is renowned for its well-preserved Renaissance architecture and Pecorino cheese!

Question

How can I get there?

Answer

More details on this can be found on the travel page. We recommend flying into Florence or Rome and renting a car. Be advised that manual transmissions are more popular in Italy so be sure to book ahead to grab an automatic if that's your preference.

Question

When should I book my travel?

Answer

As soon as possible! We've heard the best time to book flights is 4-6+ months out. We've also reserved a number of hotel blocks, which will be released between January and April, so it's a good idea to grab a room at one of these hotels as soon as possible!

Question

When should I RSVP?

Answer

Please reply as soon as you can, or no later than May 1, 2022, so we can have an accurate headcount.

Question

Are my children invited?

Answer

We love your little ones, and we'd be happy to have them at the pool party on Saturday. Regrettably, we cannot accommodate them at the wedding ceremony and reception. If you do decide to make a family trip of it, let us know and we can help arrange a local babysitter.

Question

What's the best way to pay for things abroad?

Answer

Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere, but it's probably a good idea to withdraw Euros before you leave the US to avoid paying local ATM surcharges or exchange rates on foreign currency. If you have to withdraw money oversees, look for a national bank rather than an independent ATM to minimize fees.

Question

Will Birdie be attending the wedding?

Answer

Depends who you ask...

For all the days along the way
