Airports

The two closest airports to San Miguel are BJX (in Leon) and QRO (in Queretaro). Alternatively, San Miguel is a 4 or so hour drive from Mexico City. IMPORTANT NOTE: Ubers are extremely rare in this part of Mexico so please pre-book car service into San Miguel. More info on that is below.

(BJX) BAJIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN LEON

BJX is in the town of Leon, 1 hour and 30 minutes away from San Miguel. This is the biggest airport in the region (though still quite small) and where most flights from the US depart and arrive from.

Queretaro Airport is 1 hour and 15 minutes drive away from San Miguel.

Transportation from the Airport

There are several transportation options that will take you from your chosen airport to San Miguel de Allende. Shuttle Service: BajioGo: For service from San Miguel de Allende to the Airport, BajioGo airport shuttle service is a great budget-friendly option. A driver will greet you at baggage claim with an extra hand to carry your load, and will timely pick you up from any location in San Miguel on the day of your departure. Booking is immediate and they speak English. Call, WhatsApp, or email them with your flight info and they will coordinate the pickup times for you. Simple as that. Our only big suggestion is to stay close-ish to the center of town so you can take advantage of the ability to walk everywhere. Unsure of the location? Just ask us! San Miguel has some of the most beautiful Airbnbs we have ever come across. If you're traveling with a group and want to experience more of the SMDA culture, booking a large hacienda would be a great way to spend the weekend! We recommend booking a house that is in the city and not on the outskirts. The easiest way to ensure this is to find a place that is around El Jardin, the town square. All of the weekend's events will be in walking distance of this area.
