Jack and Maggie's love story began as many modern love stories do, with a message on a dating app. The COVID-19 pandemic had just about shut down the world, and two single people in their twenties turned to Bumble to find their soulmate. They had no idea how that 'right swipe' would change their lives. After some chatting in the app, they soon arranged a date at Roadhouse 66 in Wrigleyville, the first of their many dates around the north side of Chicago. As they continued to date, they soon discovered that they both had strong aspirations for their careers and a desire to live abroad. Jack and Maggie began applying to Masters programs in Europe. Jack was accepted into Trinity College Dublin's MBA program and, soon after, Maggie was accepted into University College Cork’s international Masters in Nursing program. Taking the plunge together, they both quit their jobs and moved abroad. It was in Ireland where their love grew to new levels. Nearly every weekend, Jack or Maggie made the two-hour trek on Irish Rail between Dublin and Cork to see each other and explore the pubs, restaurants, historical sites, and beauty in their parts of the island. As graduation neared, their career outlooks unfortunately presented a new challenge, but one they were determined to overcome. Jack stayed in Ireland for another year for his job, while Maggie moved back to Chicago for hers. Making an effort to talk every day, as Jack was going to bed and Maggie was just getting off work, their relationship thrived despite the distance. They visited each other a few times across that year, and even "met in the middle" once in Iceland! Eventually, Jack knew it was time to move back to Chicago, and they found a small apartment for themselves in Lakeview. It was here that they got their dog, Hank, and this small apartment became a home and a couple became a family. On a trip back that following autumn, Jack proposed at a scenic spot on the side of the road of Inishmore, the largest of the Aran Islands off the coast of Galway. With the wind blowing off the Atlantic and the sun shining through the clouds, Maggie said yes. Through a pandemic, a move abroad, and a year of long distance, Maggie and Jack's love has thrived. They're excited for you to join them in celebrating their love and commitment to each other in Ireland, a place both beautiful and special to them.
