Drive Highway 1!
The views from the road do not get old! Whenever we get the chance, we love to drive along the coast and pullover periodically for selfie breaks!
Pfeiffer Beach
This is our favorite beach in the area! Only about a 10 minute drive from Big Sur Lodge. There is a small parking lot, so we recommend going in the morning! Note: you will need cash to pay for parking (~$12).
Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park
This is a great state park with lots of views and hiking. A short walk from the parking lot is McWay Falls - a beautiful coastal waterfall. For a more challenging adventure, check out the Tanbark Trail. This is a ~6.5 mile hike that offers great views of the coast.
Garrapata State Park
A short drive from Big Sur, this beach offers beautiful views and is a great option if Pfeiffer Beach is at capacity.
Carmel-by-the-Sea
North of Big Sur, Carmel-by-the-Sea is an adorable coastal town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and beaches.
COAST Big Sur
Coast is a great place to stop in for any meal!
Nepenthe
This is a great place for dinner or drinks with views of the water.
Henry Miller Memorial Library
Not to be confused with the Monterey County Library (which offers free wifi), this library is a quirky place to browse and shop for non-traditional books.
Paso Robles
If you are staying in California longer than the weekend, we highly recommend making a trip to Paso Robles! This is our favorite wine region in California - as it is less touristy and commercial than Napa and Sonoma.
Yosemite National Park
About a 4-hour drive from Big Sur, Yosemite is a must-see if you are making a larger trip out of our wedding weekend. Pictures don't do this place justice. Just trust us and GO!
