While on a tour of her new school, the principal introduced Lynette and Christopher while walking around the grounds. It was a small meeting, but Chris still remembers that Lynette was wearing a black dress and he thought she was cute. At the beginning of the school year, Chris was the technology coach for teachers. He kept finding his way to Lynette's classroom to make sure she was "okay" and if she "needed anything". Lynette is pretty tech savvy, so she found this flirtation comical and engaged in some flirty banter. After a day of teaching 4th grade boys about puberty, Lynette desperately needed a drink. Chris and Lynette went to a local spot and bonded over laughs and beers. Their first official date was at a billiards club in Fairfax, where they both showed off their poor pool skills. They hung out during their winter break, and at a New Years Eve party- after some cocktails, Chris stated that they were dating & Lynette disagreed- as no formal conversation had occurred. It wasn't made official until New Years Day, when both were recovering, that the decision was made that they agreed they were "officially" dating. :)
The original plan for the proposal was supposed to be in November 2022, while Chris and Lynette were on a trip to Greece. Chris was making a huge deal about a sunrise hike, to the top of a mountain, overlooking Athens. Lynette thought she saw Chris slip something in his pocket- so she wore jeans and a sweater on this hike (do not recommend!). Once they reached the top, the sunrise was beautiful, there was someone up there taking photos, and it was the perfect moment........ for no proposal. He didn't pop the question. Come to find out Lynette had told Chris a few "rules" for the engagement. One of those was "not on a major holiday". Technically, this day was Thanksgiving in the states..... so he didn't propose. Instead, he carried the ring in his pocket, ALL DAY, while they explored Athens. Lynette argues that this doesn't count, as they were not celebrating Thanksgiving!! Fast forward to April 2023. Chris was planning a birthday get together for Lynette and her twin Lauren. He invited her family down to VA and organized a day at her favorite brewery, Port City. Chris did warn Lynette that, even though a lot of friends and family were coming, he was not going to propose at her birthday celebration. Spoiler alert- he didn't propose. The following day Lynette had plans with her sister and mom to go to a tulip farm and pick flowers. Chris "had a bar event" that day and wouldn't be joining. Chris surprised Lynette in the tulip fields with a proposal. It was everything she could have dreamt of. He even teased her about her unwillingness to get up early "because the flowers will still be there & nothing is going to change" in a short, sweet video he filmed prior to him proposing. Chris went as far as gathering Lynette's friends and family for a surprise engagement party, that afternoon, at 2 Silos Brewing; where they enjoyed the excitement of the day with their closest people!
