Though both had volunteered off and on for a time preparing and serving meals for Angelenos experiencing homelessness, and though their paths had most certainly and unknowingly crossed before, it wasn't until the time was just right that Ryan and Isabel finally noticed each other. Isabel noticed that Ryan's jelly to pb ratio was way too high and Ryan noticed Isabel's eyes. While on their first date and during a particular tense moment in the film "The Martian," as attempts were made to save the lead character Mark Watney, Ryan reached over and taking Isabel's hand said "We should pray for Watney." They held hands for the rest of the movie. A month later Ryan learned that his career in the Air Force, which had brought him to Los Angeles, was now taking him across the country to Ohio. Timing is everything. While some were tempted to say that they met too late Isabel liked to think of their meeting as right on time. Despite first hand exposure to the challenges of long distance relationships, Ryan decided that it was best to know what would come of a relationship with Isabel than to wonder forever about what could have been. There have been tears, there have been fights, stress, loneliness, and longing, but never regrets. This wedding is the culmination of an uphill battle against so many obstacles. Ryan and Isabel look forward to the start of their forever and hope you can join in the celebration.
