Our Story

Swiped right, stayed forever

On a January night in 2021, Rebecca was casually swiping through the dating app, Hinge, when she stumbled upon a cute guy with a video of himself chugging an entire pitcher of beer, looking both determined and in pain. Intrigued, she sent him a message asking what possessed him to drink that much. The cute guy, Isaac, replied with an explanation: it was a Texas A&M tradition called a ring dunk, where students chug a pitcher of beer with their newly earned class ring at the bottom. That quirky intro led to more messages, and soon, Isaac asked Rebecca out on a date. Planning it was a bit tricky, since they lived on opposite sides of Houston: Rebecca in Atascocita and Isaac in Cypress, both with their parents. Still, on a rainy Sunday, Isaac made the drive to pick Rebecca up and took her to brunch at Union Kitchen in Kingwood. Conversation flowed effortlessly, and not wanting the date to end, Isaac suggested walking around Deerbrook Mall afterward. After hours of chatting, he dropped her off and gave her a polite side hug goodbye. For the next nine weeks, they went on a date every weekend: exploring downtown Houston, bowling, painting canvases for each other, meeting Isaac’s close friends, and even taking a weekend trip to San Antonio. On their tenth date, they had dinner at Iguana Joe’s in Atascocita and made s’mores at Rebecca’s house afterward. That night, while chatting in her room, Isaac officially asked Rebecca to be his girlfriend. March 12th quickly became a date to remember for Rebecca — already her sister Hannah’s birthday, and now the start of something special with Isaac. By May 2021, both had moved out of their parents' homes and into the Heights. Isaac shared a townhome with college friends, while Rebecca had a studio apartment just five minutes away. Being close allowed them to spend weeknights cooking together, having cozy movie nights, exploring new restaurants, throwing iconic parties at Isaac's house and traveling around the country. Their bond deepened as they built a shared routine and made new memories in Houston. In May 2023, they took the next big step and moved in together! They rented a townhome in the quaint Cottage Grove neighborhood of the Heights. Just a few months later, they welcomed a 12-week-old golden retriever puppy named Biscuit into their lives. Raising a puppy together helped them grow even stronger as a couple. By spring of 2024, Rebecca and Isaac knew they were ready for forever. They began ring shopping and making plans for the future. True to form, Isaac — ever the planner and perfectionist — needed time to orchestrate the perfect proposal. On March 8th, 2025, Isaac put his plan into motion. A friend invited the couple to a "birthday dinner," but before that, Rebecca and Isaac were scheduled to attend an event in Memorial Park called “Sips at Sunset" (which Isaac had created). To build excitement, Isaac even created custom yard signs along their neighborhood walk to promote the fictional event. Rebecca, skeptical, declared it “not our vibe,” but when another friend "invited" Isaac and Rebecca to go, she agreed. When they arrived at the park, it was clear there were no cocktails. Instead, Isaac got down on one knee and proposed and of course, Rebecca said yes! But the surprises didn’t end there: he whisked her off to a local bar, where their friends and family were waiting to celebrate the newly engaged couple. He even had Rebecca's college friends fly in from all over the country to spend the weekend celebrating the engagement. Now, Rebecca and Isaac are beyond excited to begin this next chapter surrounded by the people they love most!
