We're getting married!

For the cold & wintery Minnesota months we decided to drive as far west as possible and [safely] work remotely from California for a few weeks. While there, we rented a small cottage from Linda & Larry in the Carmel Valley. We fell in love with the natural beauty in the area--stunning coast lines, fresh food, fabulous wine, sunshine, and rolling hills. Let's keep the good times rollin'

February 18, 2021 *** The engagement day was going to be a normal Thursday in our small California cottage: up at 5, lunch at 10, work until 3, go explore in the afternoon, cheers with local wine and grill something for dinner. February 18, 2021 turned out to be the least normal and best day yet! For our afternoon walk we got in the car and made the ~20 min drive down the coast of Big Sur on Highway 1, music up loud (When I’m With You- Kaskade), sunroof open, happy Cali vibes in full swing as we pulled up to Garrapata State Beach (aka the Big Little Lies beach). As we headed down the dirt path Jarod points out a spot that has an extra pretty view with the sunset colors hitting the coastal mountains and suggests we go take a picture there. As Maggie headed over to the spot he pointed out and was admiring the view, Jarod needed Maggie to move about 5’ further (per the photographers instructions). So, Jarod started pointing to a “deer” that was “over there” and Maggie needed to go “a little farther to see it”—spoiler, there was no deer. As Maggie turned around disappointed that there wasn’t a deer, Jarod had dropped to one knee and was holding a beautiful, wood box open with a RING. In pure shock Maggie froze and just stared at him haha. In the nicest voice Jarod instructed her to take her face mask and sunglasses off, then proceeded to say the most thoughtful and heartwarming things. Maggie zoned right into his eyes, happy tears streamed down her face, and after Jarod finished and said “Margaret Mary, will you marry me?” she again froze, and then let out a “Yes...Yes! A million times yes!” *** We're so excited to share this special place & celebrate with you!
