Home of the first shots of the Civil War. The boat ride alone is worth it. Get a beautiful view of the Charleston Harbor and skyline while checking out one of the most important landmarks in American History.
Ranked one of the top 50 restaurants in all of America, and in my opinion the Best BBQ you'll find outside of maybe Austin, TX. If you like BBQ need to stop here before you leave Charleston.
A WWII Aircraft Carrier turned massive war museum docked in Charleston Harbor. A beautiful view of the harbor, skyline, and bridge.

Great spot to stop after touring the Battery and checking out the Colonial Houses at the tip of the Peninsula.
They do food tours/ghost tours/ history tours. A great way to see downtown!
When Jenn's parents come to visit, this is their first request! Best she-crab soup in town; great oyster happy hour if you sit at the bar.
Only hill in the city... you can park at the Waterfront Park in Mt Pleasant and walk the dual-use sidewalk (walkers/runners on the left; bikers on the right). Great views of the harbor! https://www.visit-historic-charleston.com/arthur-ravenel-bridge.html
One of the best restaurants in all of the Southeast, but somehow not as expensive as you might expect. If you'd like to dine here I recommend making a reservation at least a month in advance.
Lots of options for food/drink - Red's; Saltwater Cowboys (great views); Tavern and Table or Water's Edge for higher end; Vickery's has a great beach bar. Cross the street for live music and great food at The Mill Street Tavern If you just want to look around, park at the visitor's center and take the boardwalk. You can also rent kayaks and SUPs, or get a ride on the Palmetto Breeze catamaran. Dolphins LOVE this spot!
Beautiful waterfront dining.
Best Moscow Mule in America.
This is a great place to learn about the lives of enslaved people and about the Gullah/Geechie culture.
One of our favorite Restaurants and Happy Hour Spots!
Oldest known tree in the United States. Kind of massive. You'll see images of it all over Charleston.
This is listed here for a few specific folks - you know who you are! Drink wine and cuddle adoptable kitties in this delightful cozy spot. If you end up taking one home - there are worse souvenirs you could end up with.
if you're in town early (Wednesday) they have an awesome wine/food sampling for $25 that gives you access to the grounds. And yes - the alligators are real!
Breweries! Too many to name individually, so here's a link and a map...
The water will be too cold for southerners, but it might be warm enough for some of the Yankees! Laid back beach town with tons of great bars/restaurants - go laid back with Chico Feyo or Disney (in a good way) with Wiki Wiki. Check out Lost Dog Cafe if you left your best friend back home and need a furry fix.
Excellent Brunch spot just a short walk from beautiful Hampton Park.
You've probably heard of a peddle pub before, but have you ever heard of one that's a boat?
