9/12/2020 Safety Update

With just over a month to go until the big day, we know that many of you are undecided about whether or not to travel to Charleston, and we certainly understand your concerns! We are taking the health and safety of ourselves and our guests very seriously. With that in mind, we have made some changes to the layout of the ceremony and reception to keep everyone healthy and COVID-free! The venue has huge windows on the first floor that will be open to keep everything well-ventilated (you can see the windows here: https://www.wickliffehouse.com/), but we are also moving the bulk of the gathering space outdoors entirely... The dance floor will be set up outside on the lawn. There will be tables set up throughout the yard, as well as on the veranda. There will be a bar set up outside. While we're hoping for beautiful weather, we do have a large tent on reserve so that we can still celebrate outside even if Mother Nature doesn't cooperate. There will be some tables inside as well for those who are comfortable eating indoors (again, with wide open windows). We will be asking everyone to wear a mask when entering the building for the restrooms (which are single use) or to order at the indoor bar. As a city, Charleston's number of daily positive cases has been steadily dropping since mask mandates were put in place back in July. We would still not recommend that you visit bars or restaurants that are indoors only while you're here, but luckily there are tons of great places with beautiful outdoor spaces to eat and drink! We 100% understand if you are uncomfortable traveling or gathering with a large group, so please make your decision about whether or not to attend based solely on your personal comfort level! We will absolutely not be offended if you decide to stay home, and we will look forward to celebrating with you down the road!

UPDATE - wedding postponed to October!!

October 30, 2020

Unfortunately, due to the latest developments with the Coronavirus, we feel that we have no choice but to postpone the wedding. Like much of the country, South Carolina is putting restrictions on large group events, and even if the we tried to do the wedding itself much of the rest of the city would be shut down, and it would be hard for everyone to really enjoy their time here. We settled on Friday, October 30th for the new wedding date. We would hope everything has calmed down by then with the Coronavirus. This will also put us (mostly) outside of Hurricane Season and allow us to skip the scorching heat of Charleston in the Summer. Having talked to a friend of ours in the airline industry, it is our understanding that almost all airlines are waiving fees to change flights given the circumstances. The hope is that anyone who has made travel plans for April 17th should be able to cancel or at least reschedule their reservations without cost. We truly hope everyone can modify their plans easily enough and join us in the Fall, but we fully understand if the new date won’t work for some of you. We know that many of you were planning to travel from various parts of the country, and we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience you might face in changing your travel plans. We look forward to partying extra hard with all of you in the fall. Everyone, stay safe, be good to one another, and WASH YOUR HANDS!!!
