Travelling from Dorchester

From Dorchester take the A35 Dorchester to Bridport road. As you are about to enter the village of Winterbourne Abbas take the small road to the left signposted Abbotsbury, Portesham and Winterbourne Steepleton. At the end of this very short road turn right and then immediately left. Continue along this road for 2 miles and take the second right signposted Gorwell. Abbotsbury is signposted straight on. Continue along this road for a mile and then take the first turning on the right at a small grass triangle but which is not signposted. When you are on this road continue over the cattle grid and on for one mile past the dairy and through the wood. The first building you will see on the right is the barn with a car parking area in front of the building.

Travelling from Weymouth

From Weymouth take the B3157 to Portesham Abbotsbury And Bridport. In Portesham village turn right at the Kings Arms into the main village. Continue through the village and up the hill towards Winterbourne Abbas. After leaving the village at the top of the hill take the first left turn signposted to Gorwell. When you are on this road continue over the cattle grid and on for one mile past the dairy and through the wood. You will then reach Gorwell Barn.

Travel Note

Travelling from Abbotsbury

Take the small road opposite The Old Bakehouse bread shop in the centre of Abbotsbury. This will take you along Back Street and then into the open countryside. Continue up the hill for approximately one mile and then when you reach the top of the hill take the small turning on the left, which is by a grass triangle. Continue along the farm road until you reach the barn. Please follow these directions rather than a GPS as some systems are sending drivers the wrong way and may try to take you along ancient tracks and rights of way to Gorwell for the last 2 miles rather than the correct highway route
