After finishing her freshman year of college, Megan came home for the summer and took a job at the Maple Street YMCA - she had zero connections to the Y, but saw the posting online and got a job leading 6-8 year olds in the Summer Day Camp. Robert, also looking for a summer job before his freshman year of college, took a summer day camp job at the same Maple Street YMCA - despite living in Millard, he wanted to go back to the same Y his mom taught at and that he grew up playing sports at. With just a month left in the summer, Megan asked Robert out to minigolf and ice cream at Ted and Wally's, just to see where things would go. After a few more dates that summer, they both agreed to do long distance, which they continued for three more years while Megan finished attending the University of Minnesota. She graduated in 2019, then moved to Lincoln for her job while Robert finished his degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. (Don't worry, the football rivalry is only one day a year at most). The two moved to Omaha in early 2020 for both of their new jobs, and have been living in their hometown ever since! In September of 2024, Robert and Megan went to the Joslyn Art Museum, the same week the museum reopened after being closed for renovations for two years. Robert proposed in the Fountain Room in the original wing of the museum, and later pulled off a surprise party with the help of both Megan's parents, and his family! We're looking forward to celebrating with you all in June, and can't wait to see you all in person!
