Things To Do

We’re so excited to share a few of our favorite places in the area with you. More restaurant and bar recommendations to come....

Tahoe Sailing Charters

700 North Lake Boulevard, Tahoe City, CA 96145
, (530) 583-6200

These boats are available for private charter or smaller group tickets - 3 charters daily. It is a great way to get out on the lake!

Emerald Bay State Park

138 Emerald Bay Rd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

One of the most famous bays in the world. The scenery here is incredible. The bay holds the only island in Lake Tahoe. The drive from Tahoe City is about 40 minutes on West Lake Boulevard (Highway 89) which is along the lake much of the way and a beautiful drive in itself. You will pass the wedding venue on your way too (a great chance to scope it out!). From Emerald Bay you can take a number of different day hikes up into the mountains or down to the lake or just enjoy the amazing view from the pull out off the road. It is definitely worth the drive just for the view or you can plan a whole day down there if you have the time. You can also visit Vikingsholm which is a historic 38-room mansion which sits on the shores of the bay and is considered one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture in the United States. Tours of the castle are offered daily. You must park at the road and walk down a steep 1-mile trail (400 foot elevation change) to the lake.

Squaw Valley

1960 Squaw Valley Rd, Olympic Valley, CA 96146

There is lots to do up at Squaw Valley Ski Resort - even in the summertime! Take a ride up the cable car for lunch, hiking trails and beautiful views. You can also check out a number of restaurants in the village, play golf, hike up Shirley Creek Trail, relax by the pool at The Resort at Squaw Creek and much much more!

Eagle Rock Hiking Trail

3370 West Lake Boulevard, Homewood, CA 96141

Eagle Rock, an eroded dormant volcano, is one of the most breathtaking views in Tahoe. The coolest part (if you don't love long hikes) is that it only takes about 15-20 minutes to reach the summit to see the view. Overall, it's an incredibly easy hike for the payoff. The elevation is 6,286 feet and consists of an absolutely epic panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and lake. All you need is a camera, water bottle, lunch (if you want to have a picnic at the top) and decent shoes - even sturdy sandals will be fine!

Jake's On the Lake

780 North Lake Boulevard, Tahoe City, CA 96145
, 530-583-0188

This is where it all began! Hunter and I met working at Jake's on the Lake in Tahoe City, CA in June of 2009. This is still our favorite bar and restaurant every time we visit Tahoe. There are still many friendly faces, good cocktails and great service. The location and view can not be beat.

The West Shore Cafe & Inn

5160 West Lake Boulevard, Homewood, CA 96141
, 530-525-5200

This is where the wedding will be held. It is a fantastic restaurant and inn located right along the west shore of Lake Tahoe. It is about a 15-20 minute drive from Tahoe City, CA.
