San Diego International Airport is closest to Vista/San Diego County. While we have found this airport to be recently unreliable, our hope is "the bugs" have been worked through and we strongly recommend keeping an eye on your travel arrangements. The airport is roughly 40min- 1 hour away from Vista/North County San Diego depending on where you plan to stay.
Flight
McClellan-Palomar Airport (Carlsbad) has recently partnered with American Airlines (AA) and perhaps additional airlines have recently done the same. This is the closest option and is 15 minutes from Vista.

The furthest airport from Vista/San Diego County that we can recommend is John Wayne Airport, Orange County. We have found this to be a reliable and easily navigated airport. Travel from John Wayne Airport, Orange County to north county San Diego is approximately 1 hour- 1 hour & 30 minutes.
