The Last Hotel is built inside the historical International Shoe Company Building in the St. Louis Garment District. In the early 1900s, the then factory housed the largest shoe company in the world. The hotel embodies the preservation, restoration and reinvention of an iconic building, which boasts elaborate stone carvings and ornate metalwork. The Last Hotel's name is a whimsical nod to the craft of shoemaking. A “last” is the wooden form shaped similarly to that of a human foot. It is used to retain each design’s distinctive shape while leather is carefully fitted on it.
