While in college at Ohio State, Katie and Dan were acquainted through mutual friends for several years but did not begin dating until Dan's final semester. A short, casual conversation at "Friendsgiving" in the fall of 2017 sparked some intrigue after Katie revealed her former desire to become a marine biologist prior to taking up dietetics. Sensing a mutual connection, the couple capitalized on the opportunity to strike up further conversation on New Year's Eve where, amongst friends, their budding romance became apparent with a passionate kiss as the clock struck midnight. By mid-February, the relationship was official, and things moved rather quickly thereafter. Katie still teases Dan about how early-on he professed his love with those three infamous words, but his love was true then and has remained so ever since. Approaching five years together, Dan and Katie remain steadfast in their affection and devotion towards one another and cannot wait for the next chapter of their life together.
