Question

How do I get onto the island?

Answer

Casco Bay Ferry Lines! https://www.cascobaylines.com/ The ferry runs roughly every hour & you can bring your car onto the island. We highly suggest carpooling if you would like to bring your car onto the island. When you arrive at the Casco Bay Ferry Lines, walk inside to purchase your roundtrip ticket to Peaks Island. During busy times, a line does start - so don't expect to get on the ferry (if you have a car) if you get there just 5 mins before! You can always park your car in line and walk around the pier / grab a drink to kill some time. If you are walking on, you will have no problem getting on the ferry. If you are staying in Portland, there will be a water taxi that will take you to and from the ceremony. Location & timing TBD.

Question

Can I bring my car to Peaks Island?

Answer

Yes! However, be prepared for long lines (it won't be as bad as middle of summer, but there are two weddings on the island this weekend). Highly suggest carpooling and for the brave, parking your car and just walking on. You can always arrange for family / friends to pick you up right when you get off the ferry to take you to your house.

Question

How do I get around the island?

Answer

1. Car, if you bring one over 2. Golf Cart - you can rent golf carts from the following companies: http://peaksislandcarts.com/, https://www.mikescarts.com/ 3. Walk! The island is ~four miles round. If you are a walker, highly suggest taking a lap around the island at some point. My mom and I do this every day when we are up there. 4. Bike - BYOB or rent bikes from: Brad’s Bike Rental & Repair (115 Island Ave.) If you get off the ferry and take a left, it is past Hannigan's Market on the right. 5. There will be a bus on the island that will take guests to and from the Inn on Peaks Island for the ceremony and after the dancing. Timing TBD.

Question

Where should I eat / drink on the island?

Answer

1. Island Lobster Company - Great for fried fish, apps & drinks! Good views of Portland. 2. The Inn on Peaks Island - Great for lunch / dinner. 3. Cockeyed Gull - Great for dinner. 4. Il Leone Pizza - Wood fired pizza right by The Lion's Club (where Welcome Drinks are) 5. Unruly Girls Cafe - Coffee/ breakfast. 6. Baba's Cafe - Coffee / breakfast. 7. Food Trucks (usually down by the ferry docks) - Milly's Skillet, Greeks on Peaks, etc. 8. Hannigan's Market - Small grocery store.

Question

What should I do on the island?

Answer

1. Walk around the island & explore! 2. Visit the Maine beaches: Rocky Beach at Hadlocks Cove or Sandy Beach 3. Relax! Bring books, enjoy company & explore. 4. Explore "town" - which is super quaint and small. 5. Eat / drink! 6. Day trip to Portland if you want more of the city vibe.

Question

What should I do in Portland?

Answer

Portland is such a walkable city. Pop into shops, bars, etc. Amazing restaurants and seafood, a few of our favs: 1. Highroller - Best lobster rolls, fun atmosphere, good beers and merch 2. Street & Co - Fav dinner spot, amazing seafood and pastas 3. Other good dinner spots - Fore Street (fancier), Central Provisions (small, unique plates), Scales, Luke's Lobster, Eventide Oysters (best oysters), Duck Fat (amazing fries), the list goes on... 4. Shop - Great boutiques, smaller shops, etc...all walking distance to pop in and out 5. Breweries - Austin St., Bissell Brothers, Shipyard, Allagash, Goodfire Brewing Company, Lone Pine Brewing, Maine Beer Company, Rising Tide Brewing Company - most of these require you to take an uber or drive, some in downtown (Definitive Brewing)

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

It will be a toss up! It could be anywhere from ~60-80 degrees. Either way, it gets chilly at night - so we highly encourage you to bring a jacket / sweater, etc.

Question

If I decide to park my car in Portland and walk onto Peaks, where can I park?

Answer

Parking in downtown Portland can be tough on a weekend, so to help you out, here are a few different options: 1. Casco Bay Parking Garage: 54 Commercial Street - Most $$$ ($40 / day), but also most convenient (shortest walk to ferry). Fills up fast. 2. Custom House Square Parking Garage: 25 Pearl Street - $40 / day 3. Temple Street Parking Garage: 11 Temple Street - $40 / day, a little bit of a walk (~10 mins) 4. Portland Parking Division: 450 Commercial St - ~15 min walk (suggest group gets dropped off w/ thing at ferry + one person parks and walk). I think this one is only $5 / day - a steal! Right across from Becky's Diner. We always park here. 5. Ocean Gateway Parking Lot: 2 Commercial St - We also park here a lot, very close to very and cheaper than the first few.

Question

What should I wear!?

Answer

1. Welcome Drinks - Think coastal Maine vibes. Fun summer dresses, boys in nice shirts, pants or shorts...bring layers for when the sun goes down! 2. Wedding Ceremony & Reception - Cocktail attire. Ladies - highly suggest a shawl / sweater of some sort.
