Things To Do

We LOVE Colorado! Julie was born and raised here and we both visit every chance we get. It's one of the most beautiful parts of the country. We hope you'll come out early and make a vacation of it, there's so much to do. But whether you're staying a week or 24 hours, here are some of our favorite attractions and dining options. If you need other recommendations, we have plenty, especially if you want to use this as an excuse to road trip around a large part of Colorado (highly recommended!). Just ask! NOTE: If you are coming from out of town, take at least 24 hours to acclimate before hiking, and drink way more water than you think you need to. This will help you avoid altitude sickness. Even if you aren't hiking, altitude sickness can ruin a trip to the Rockies, so don't push yourself and stay hydrated.

Spruce Mountain

13415 South Spruce Mountain Road, Larkspur, CO 80118
, (303) 660-7495

We're getting married at the base of Spruce Mountain, which has a great 8.5 mile loop you can hike. Beautiful views, plenty of shade, and low-to-medium intensity hiking.

Garden of the Gods

1805 North 30th Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80904
, (719) 634-6666

Crowded, but one of the most beautiful places for low intensity hikes in the area. A trip to Colorado Springs is not complete without seeing this beautiful park.

Pikes Peak

Cascade, CO 80809

The tallest mountain in Colorado has the most stunning views in the whole country (in our humble opinions). Ways to Enjoy the Mountain: (1) The Cog Railway to the Summit will be back in service this summer, but they recommend making a reservation in advance. (2) You can drive to the summit as well, but there is a charge per person to do so. Please note that the drive to the summit can be tricky if you are not used to driving up and down tall mountains. (3) The hike to the summit via Barr trail is a 13 mile trip. If you are interested in hiking Pikes Peak, please talk to us first, so that we can ensure you have all of the necessary health and safety information!

North Cheyenne Cañon Park

2120 South Cheyenne Canyon Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80906
, (719) 385-6086

Great for hiking! Some of our favorite hikes include: - Seven Bridges - St. Mary's Falls - Mt. Muscoco

Palmer Lake Recreational Area

199 County Line Road, Palmer Lake, CO 80133
, (719) 481-2953

If you need a relaxing afternoon, bring the family to Palmer Lake for swimming, short walks, and relaxation.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

4250 Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80906
, (719) 633-9925

Probably the highest altitude zoo you'll ever visit. While it can't compare to the OG Zoo, the Omaha Zoo (come visit us!!!), it is a really well done, humane zoo and a great place to visit whether you came with your family or not.

Denver Botanic Gardens

1007 York Street, Denver, CO 80206
, (720) 865-3500

The hour's drive up to Denver is worth it for these beautiful gardens alone.

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre

18300 West Alameda Parkway, Morrison, CO 80465
, (720) 865-2494

A gorgeous park with an iconic amphitheater where you can check out a cool concert if you have a few extra days.

Tejon Street

Tejon Street, Colorado Springs, CO

Downtown Colorado Spring is full of shops, restaurants, and small parks. Make sure to stop by Poor Richard's Bookstore for lunch and souvenirs while you are there!

16th Street Mall

16th Street Mall, Denver, CO 80202

The bustling, energetic heart of Denver, perfect for a first time visitor. It's a fun place to stroll through, even if the shops and restaurants are all a little overpriced.

Manitou Springs

Manitou Springs, CO 80829

When you're done checking out Pikes Peak or the Garden of Gods, make sure to stop in Manitou Springs for some lunch, shopping, and weird-tasting water.

Old Colorado City

Colorado Springs, CO 80904

A small, historic Colorado town. It's a great place to spend a day shopping!

Bella Panini

4 Colorado 105, Palmer Lake, CO 80133
, (719) 481-3244

Julie and Holden's favorite restaurant in the Colorado Springs area. Simple but delicious pizzas, sandwiches, and a chocolate cake to die for.

Arlene's Beans

366 2nd Street, Monument, CO 80132

Arlene is catering our Rehearsal Dinner. If you can't get enough of her delicious Mexican food, check out her restaurant for lunch or dinner!

For all the days along the way
