11.16.13 It all starts with Jen and Bob Davis' matchmaking skills. Jen was adamant on Steve taking Emily out on a blind date. After Bob (Steve's boss and Emily's cousin) asking Steve to step into his office, Bob showed Steve a picture of Emily and explained that Jen had the amazing idea of them being a couple. Steve decided to call Emily and since he couldn't get ahold of her, he left a voicemail. Yes, Emily still has the voicemail saved on her phone. After Steve and Emily connected on the phone, they went on a blind date to Pole Position, I already know what you're thinking. It's not a strip club! It's an adult go-cart racing arena. Turns out there wasn't a bar to loosen up our nerves (because they don't want people to drink and drive... duhhh) and it was an hour to an hour and a half wait. So they went to a barcade instead and had Vietnamese food. It was a great night and I guess you can say the rest is history.

We were on our way back from Three Fingered Jack summit and he told me his boots were bothering him so he needed to fix his laces. I (the science teacher) was looking at an anthill and I was totally consumed. He told me Boone (our dog) had something on him and I should come over and check it out. I went to see what was going on and there was a purple (favorite color) container (shout out to Amber Saunders!) hanging from Boone's collar. I was still confused but I was getting the gist of what was going on because Steve was already down on one knee (he's the planner). He looked at Boone and asked, "Do you think it's time?" After a pause, he replied to Boone, "Yes, I think so too." He then looked at me and unpacked the container and said, "I know you've been waiting a long time for this (6 years!!!), so I won't bore you with a speech, but I've never doubted I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. So, will you please finally marry me?" Of course, there were waterworks (I'm a crier) and it was magical because it was a true surprise, even though we had previously talked about it and I was begging him for about 2 years. 😂 We're excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you!
