One of Jeff's favorite spots. Enjoy miles of nature trails or relax on the beach. Try to get there earlier than later as sometimes, the parking lot fills up and you can't park on the street. (The address listed is of a nearby house, the nature preserve parking area will be on your left).
This is our favorite vineyard down in the Northern Neck. They recently suffered structural damage to their building due to a tornado but the wine is still there! Not that it matters too much because you will be enjoying your wine outdoors anyways due to COVID.
Merroir is another great outdoor spot on the water boasting a large, outdoor dining area. The ambiance is killer here. At Merroir, which is owned by the Rappahannock Oyster Co., you can have Oysters and wine (they have minimal other light fare) on the water.
A local favorite ice cream stand.
Despite the eye roll inducing name, Chitterchats is a classic ice cream parlor that serves up excellent ice cream. Also a bonus, you can get your ice cream cone to go for a nice walk and view on some of the nearby Reedville docks.
This is hands down our favorite Mexican restaurant. There are two locations, one in Kilmarnock (walkable from The Best Western) and another near Reedville (15017 Northumberland Hwy). Not only do they have an extensive selection on their food menu (which the food comes back out to the table in record speed), their drink menu has $11, 48 oz margaritas!
This smaller sized restaurant has become one of our favorites. Good food awaits anyone who dines here.
This is a quaint specialty gourmet food shop with small-town charm. They sell a variety of foods from pound cakes to sandwich wraps to prepared salads/pasta salads. In addition to their food selection, they have the regions best selection of fine olive oil.
I love this place. If you like good, fresh seafood, or the best chicken tenders basket as I do, this is your place. It is a no frills seafood deli that serves its purpose. Eating is best enjoyed outdoors on their picnic tables overlooking that water. I try to boat up to the dock and run in for food every year when my friends are in town. Get there early before the fresh crab cakes are gone!
