CANCUN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Get your passports ready! To get to Isla Holbox, you'll fly through Cancun International Airport. There are numerous international flights coming in each day so it should be the most convenient and cheapest option. Holbox is about two hours away from the airport, so it's a good idea to book a flight that arrives to Cancun before 3 pm (and later flights for your return).

FERRY TO ISLA HOLBOX

From the Cancun airport, you will need to take a taxi, bus or shuttle to the town of Chiquila (about 1.5 hours). From there, you will take a relaxing twenty-minute ferry ride to the island. The ferries to Holbox depart every 30 minutes and alternate between two companies (Holbox Express and 9 Hermanos). *** Please note that the ferry to the island stops running after 9:30 pm *** Stay tuned for details as we help arrange transportation from the airport to the island.

FLY TO ISLA HOLBOX

For those who really want to get to the island quickly, there is the option to charter a plane from the Cancun Airport to Holbox. The total flight time is about 25 minutes. For reference, a flight for up to 5 people, holding a max of 330kg (including luggage) costs around $540USD.

Golf Carts & Bikes

Because of the lack of cars (car-free island!), golf carts and bikes are the main motorized method of transportation on Isla Holbox. There are a bunch of rental companies to rent these for the hour/day/week. Also your hotel might have some to rent as well. Isla Holbox has a fleet of golf cart “taxis” that congregate around where the ferries drop off new guests and they are happy to take you anywhere you need to go upon arrival.

Isla Holbox doesn't have a ton of rental properties but they do have some if that is what you prefer. I would recommend booking these early as the availability is slim and will book up fast.

Since we can't list out every hotel in Isla Holbox, here are a few others that look to be great and all within walking distance to the venue. It's hard to go wrong with any of the hotels! Ser CasaSandra: Artsy boutique hotel that have beautiful rooms and amenities. This hotel books fast so reserve rooms early! Villas Flamingos Hotel: The farthest hotel from town but a beautiful hotel that has whole bungalows and suites to rent for people with kids/bigger groups. And the closest to the flamingo sanctuary! Villas Margaritas Holbox : Bigger suite rooms that could be good for people with kids Punta Caliza: A beautiful boutique hotel a block from the beach with a minimalist design. Limited number of rooms here so book early.
