Question

How do you pronounce Holbox?

Answer

Holbox is pronounced "HOLE-bosh."

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

The average minimum temperature on Holbox Island in February is 20°C (68°F). The average maximum daytime temperature is around 29°C (85°F). The amount of rain in February is normal with an average of 51mm (2.0in). Water temperature is around 26°C (78°F).

Question

How long are most people staying?

Answer

We will be on the island from February 8 - 19, so feel free to join us for as many days as you can! Given the added travel time to get to Holbox from Cancun, we do recommend coming for a minimum of 4 nights to make the most of your trip. We anticipate most people will want to join us starting Thursday February 9, or Friday February 10, given that the wedding will be taking place on Monday February 13, and we will have some activities planned leading up to our big day.

Question

Where can I expect to find the bride and groom each day?

Answer

We have rented out our wedding venue, Villa Moopich, from February 8 - 15. Villa Moopich is beach-front villa that has an indoor and outdoor lounge area, kitchen/dining area, as well as a pool and beach access with reserved lounge chairs. This villa will act as our central hub leading up to the wedding, so swing by any time for a dip in the pool or to have a drink. We will likely spend a lot of our time here, so it's a pretty safe bet that you'll find us, or someone in our immediate family here!

Question

What is the currency on the island?

Answer

The Mexican Peso is the only form of currency accepted on the island. Make sure you have plenty of cash with you, as only a few established shops take credit cards. Your hotel will take credit cards but be prepared to use cash everywhere else. As for ATMs, there are only a handful of ATM's on the island that dispense pesos, and these can regularly run out of cash or break down. *** Please note there is also no ATM in Chiquila (the port town where you'll catch the ferry to Holbox) ***

Question

Can you drink tap water?

Answer

Tap water isn’t safe to drink in Holbox, so you’ll have to buy bottled water.

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Both the ceremony and reception will be held outdoors on the beach.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Around the Island – Summer beach attire & swimwear. The island is relaxed & casual. You won't find paved roads or cars. Your mode of transportation on the island is by bike, golf-cart, or foot! Pack sandals & sneakers to get around. Don't forget sun hats, sunglasses and sunscreen! To the Welcome Party – Pool Party Chic. To the Wedding – Beach Formal. Ladies: Light flowing summer dresses in colourful hues or tropical floral prints. For footwear, we suggest sandals or flats that will be easy to navigate in sand. Men: Linen or chino style pants with a dress shirt will work great, or a summer suit with a light linen shirt, if you prefer. No ties are required. For footwear, we recommend loafers or your coolest sneakers. No sandals or flip flops until after the ceremony, please. *Shoes optional after dinner.

Question

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Answer

Yes! We would love for you to take photos and add them to our shared wedding album. Link to come!

Question

Are masks required?

Answer

Masks are not required. Please be sure to check local government guidelines for rules around Covid testing prior to arriving in Mexico as well as leaving the island.

Question

Are kids invited to the wedding?

Answer

While we want this trip to be a care-free vacation for all parents attending, if you find it works best for your family to bring your little ones, we will be happy to have them join us on our special day!

Question

Will you have babysitters on the premises

Answer

Although we are happy for your kids to join us in Holbox, we will not be providing babysitting services.

Question

Is there WIFI at the venue?

Answer

Yes, but cellular service can be pretty spotty on the island. Come prepared to disconnect!

Question

What if I can't make it?

Answer

Although it is our dream to say our 'I do's' in Holbox, we understand that having a destination wedding during a pandemic may not work for everyone. Of course we would love to have you there to celebrate with us, but if you can't make it - we totally understand! Just let us know as soon as you can.
