We know it's cliche, but if you haven't seen one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, you should! Visit the former honeymoon capital of the world, Niagara Falls (recognized as the oldest state park in the United States), containing the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls, and a portion of the Horseshoe Falls. **NOTE: bring your passport if you want to see the Canadian Side! Bikes are available for rent seasonally at the rentals tent located outside of the Visitor Center on the lower level behind the building.
Canalside formerly known as Canal Side and Erie Canal Harbor, is at the heart of Buffalo’s waterfront revitalization. It's a master-planned neighborhood and festival marketplace within the inner harbor of Buffalo, and has become the premier entertainment and leisure district in Erie County. They provides a myriad of seasonal fun activities and entertainment to the public. We enjoy the water sports, walks along the waterfront & simple lounging in Adirondack chairs.
This West Side neighborhood of Five Points is getting cooler by the month. Stop in here to enjoy their very unique space! This artisan cafe offers simple seasonal food, wine, classic cocktails, espresso and homemade french pastries by Butter Block Patisserie. Seriously yum.
A classic and free Buffalo summer tradition and ......technically where we first met onstage! If you see a show here this weekend, all would come full circle. SDP performances run Tuesdays through Sundays from mid-June through the third week of August at 7:30pm. Bring out the picnic baskets, charcuterie and bottles of rose!
Elmwood used to be the go to for hip and out-of the box shopping but Hertal Ave in North Buffalo has slowly gained a solid reputation of their own trendy boutiques. We love wandering this neighborhood! It's a foodie paradise as well as one stop shop for eclectic home goods and clothing. Oh and while you're up there, catch a classic film at the historic North Park Theater!
From humble food truck beginnings, these guys have curated quite the following. Use their twitter account to find a truck for late night munchies or just head up to their brick and mortar location for some of the tastiest local tacos ever.
Did you know Buffalo had one of these? The Darwin D. Martin House Complex, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, was built between 1903 and 1905 and one of the crown jewels of his Prairie School Era. Go, on.... take a house tour!
Imagine a neighborhood where visitors linger at open-air cafes and browse farmer’s market vendors on a tree-lined parkway in the summer, while gathering at cozy coffeehouses and pubs in the winter. This is the Elmwood Village. You can spend the whole day here and be very happy!
Some of the freshest and tastiest sushi, and oysters in Buffalo, with the catch flown in daily from some of the best fishmongers in the US & Canada. Allentown is the neighborhood in the city to combine funky and fancy. It's pleasantly weird, it’s also secretly luxurious.... for people watching. In the summer you can take in the hood on a free Buffalo Garden Walking Tour with all its glorious architecture and sometimes outrageously painted old homes. Also check out the many galleries & antiques! Top food choices: Allen Burger Venture for gourmet Burgers & brews, Allen Street Poutine Co (who do more than disco fries), Cantina Loco for fresh Mexican and full tequila bar, or grab some tapas, poetry/music/ art at Pausa Art House.
A watering hole for political junkies, Founding Fathers an all-American bar focused on the nation's history. The barkeep is a witty and adept man who might issue a random piece of trivia to those sitting at the bar at any moment. This place is just great: Free popcorn, nachos and fun trivia, its easy to see why it recently ranked one of the top 18 bars to visit in the US in Esquire magazine 2016.
If you appreciate nostalgia as much as food, you’ll enjoy the Swan Street Diner. It’s a fully restored 1937 diner car; a small place with a big heart. In that way, it’s very Buffalo. Highly recommend this place for a well done brunch!
