Flight
If choosing to fly in, Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) is the final destination. There are plenty of on-premise transportation services available: airport shuttles, rental car services (although we recommend making your reservation in advance), and NOW....drumroll please.... ride sharing programs like Uber and Lyft! woohoo!
Train
We've taken Amtrak several times over the years for visiting family back in Western New York. It's a great low cost and scenic option for those traveling from the NYC area! Both the "Empire Service" and "Maple Leaf Service" routes from New York Penn Station will get you there--- just be sure to type "Buffalo NY Exchange Street Station" (BFX) as your final destination. It drops you off right in the center of bustling downtown, with many hotels, restaurants and Lake Erie a short cab ride (and in some cases walking) distance away!
Hotel
Thank to the MAJOR renaissance happening in Buffalo right now, there's never been a more exciting variety of accommodation options to choose from! You want a cute and intimate B&B? A refurbished 19th century boutique hotel? Name brand hotel chain? We gotcha covered! Click the link below for the best rated options on TripAdvisor.com. Oh! And don't forget about AirBnB.com.... there are some gosh darn adorable and affordable spaces on there and good for sharing! Our advice? Stick to the downtown Buffalo and Elmwood Neighborhood to be closest to the celebration festivities. ;)
