Well, Kevin and Sam met through work and immediately clicked. Kevin knew something was special about Sam the first time she walked into their supervision group. Sam remembers the Mickey Mouse sweatshirt and unabashed confidence that Kevin carried. Kevin would intentionally park his car close to hers so that he could have just a few more minutes with her after their group. Thankfully this all is ending in a marriage, otherwise that could be seen as creepy. Unfortunately it took eight months of embarrassingly long text messages, pretending the spark wasn’t there, and a “happy hour” (that was really their first date) to finally start dating.
Sam: “I think I have always known. There was always something about Kevin that intrigued me and I couldn’t get enough of his humor, intelligence, and ridiculous stories about his family. From the moment we had our “first date” he’s been my best friend and confidant. I can’t imagine my life without him and I want him right by my side through everything life has for us.” Kevin: *insert Snape GIF* Always
Initially Kevin planned to propose at Christkindelmarket. Sam has an annual tradition where she drinks mulled wine, buys a hand-crafted ornament, and eats a soft pretzel. He was so anxious that day that he needed to stop in the Disney store on State St. to calm down. He couldn’t wait. Kevin proposed in front of the Christmas tree at Millennium Park. Sam was completely shocked. For those of you that have seen the proposal video, you’ll understand how speechless she truly was. They made their way to the market and Sam and Kevin chose their first ornament as an engaged couple. Kevin had checked off every box that Sam could dream of for the day. He arranged for her friends to sneakily be there when he asked and asked for her mother’s blessing. He even gathered a group of family and friends right afterward to celebrate. Kevin and Sam may have blacked out during the actual proposal so the content is blurry, but they’re pretty confident he asked and she said yes.
