Our Story

No Slamming Screen Doors Here

We met on September 13, 2018, at our community group hosted by one of our friends, Kevan - a groomsman - & Madelyn Momenpour. Ali, having just moved to Tuscaloosa, was visiting the group for the first time, and I was helping lead the group. Ali and I were both walking through major life changes. Ali had just moved from Kansas City to get her master's degree in social work at The University of Alabama, and I, that very day, had decided to withdraw from my master's program to go on staff at Safe Haven Church. I remember the moment I saw her for the very first time. She was sitting in a white armchair directly across the living room talking to a friend. I remember telling myself "I have to meet her". After community group that night, I got everyone to eat at Chipotle at 9:00 PM just because I wanted to get to know Ali more. If you know Ali, you know it's a HUGE deal that she went to anything past 8:00 PM when she hits the wall. After that night I knew I liked Ali, and if Ali's honest, she liked me too We spent most of that following weekend together at several different events, getting coffee, watching football, going to church, and a good old study session, afterward I knew I wanted to ask her out. So that following Tuesday, after getting myself hyped up outside of a coffee shop, I called Ali to ask her out. I hate to spoil the story, but she said yes. To this day, I don't think I've fist-pumped as hard as I did outside of that coffee shop (although, it may be tied with the day I proposed). That following Friday we went on our first date to dinner, a sock hop (a 50's style dance), and for ice cream. That night was filled will lots of laughter, sharing each other's stories, and some really bad dance moves. And the rest, as they say, is history! We hope you are able to join us on our special day and become a part of our story!
