Short, easy stroll to a picturesque beach and unique clifftop view of the Hudson River.
Mount Beacon Hike
Gorgeous views at one of the most popular hiking destinations in the Hudson Valley. Roundtrip time: 1.5 hours (overlook), 3 hours (overlook + fire tower)
Mt. Taurus
Decent climb with some great views along the way. And ruins of an old estate! Option to just see the ruins for an easier hike.

Awesome modern art museum in former factory
Storm King Art Center
500-acre open-air sculpture park. Will be busy but so beautiful in the fall! If you'd like to visit on the weekend, we recommend taking an Uber or the Storm King shuttle from downtown Beacon -- there is often a long line of cars waiting to get in and park.
Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site
House that served as George Washington's headquarters from 1782-1783 with museum & river views.
Fishkill Overlook Falls
A great view right in town. While here, walk along Main Street across the bridge too.
Beacon Mainstreet - shopping, dining, drinking, and more
Main Street in Beacon is a wonderful stretch of shopping, dining, coffee, and more. Fun to stroll and to find a place to eat or drink, and it stretches all the way down to Fishkill Falls.
Fishkill Farms (apple picking)
The Hudson Valley is famous for its fall apple picking--this is a beautiful place to partake.
Hudson Valley Brewery
Brewery with very unique beers. Be sure to do the nearby riverwalk too!
Quinn's
Quirky, fun restaurant on Main Street with live music at night.
Constitution Marsh Audubon Center and Sanctuary
Wildlife refuge, education center, and a cool very short hike with great views. Also, nearby Indian Brook Falls are amazing!
Ashokan Reservoir
The Ashokan Reservoir is a beautiful natural area located about an hour away in the Catskills. It has paved walking/running paths around its edges so you can easily take in its beautiful mountain views. It's also the reservoir that supplies the majority of New York City's water supply! When Pete and Helen want an easy "hike," they will often come and walk here.
Breakneck Ridge
Despite its relatively short length, this is generally considered to be the most strenuous hike in the area, but also with some of the best views!
