Please RSVP by May 1, 2025. Thank you!
No! We recognize that five hours is a LONG time to sit and watch a wedding. For this reason, Tamil Brahmin weddings are designed for guests to be able to come and go as they please. We will have a buffet breakfast available all morning, so you can serve yourself whenever you arrive. We do encourage you to arrive by 9:30am to celebrate the 'Kanyadaanam' and 'Mangalya Dharanam' (two of the most important parts of the ceremony) with us, OR by 11:30am to join us for a South Indian buffet feast!
We hope so! We know that traveling internationally or across the country will not be possible for many of our guests, and we are working on a live stream option for our wedding. Please check this site periodically or email hlmcmordie@gmail.com for more information.
Our ceremony will be a Tamil Brahmin (Tambrahm) wedding and will follow Hindu Iyengar traditions. These weddings are filled with meaningful rituals and ceremonies that unite two families through marriage. We have put together a brief document that we hope will be helpful if you want to learn more about the ceremony: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1beZlqQKsovDPQOLbtKF0naGhs0PVw7Kh/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=105542120157050742701&rtpof=true&sd=true
There is no dress code, and you do not need to wear anything specifically South Indian. Our only request is that you avoid wearing black or white and that you keep your shoulders covered (out of respect for Hindu modesty standards). If you are interested in purchasing South Indian attire, Janasya (on Amazon) has some beautiful Kurta sets for women. And Trendia is a great online store with Kurta sets for both men and women. Copy and paste this link (http://rwrd.io/l8ni82q?c) into your web browser to receive $10 off your first order from Trendia!
Unfortunately, we are doing buffet-style South Indian breakfast and lunch and are unable to accommodate all special requests. However, the meals will be fully vegetarian and fully gluten-friendly!
Yes! We have reserved blocks of rooms at discounted rates at several different hotels in the area. Please check the TRAVEL page for links to those hotel blocks. There are also some lovely AirBnBs in the area!
For the ceremony: YES! There is a parking lot at the temple and the temple is handicapped accessible. For the after party: There is a small parking lot at the brewery, as well as plenty of free street parking. This venue is also handicapped accessible.
Yes! Kids are definitely welcome. Both the temple and the brewery are kid friendly. We recognize that sitting quietly for hours is NOT a kid-friendly activity, but you are welcome to come and go throughout the ceremony, and we can recommend a few great parks nearby if you'd like some outdoor play time.
